If so, do you use them when playing the RPG or are they only for use with the miniatures game? Do you like their integration into the game even if they are not strictly required?

I think they are too costly so I ignore them completely. I also cringe at the thought of organizing and storing them as I have a hard enough time finding room for my books.

I've bought a few booster packs over the past year, but also some specific minis off of eBay for my D&D campaign. I've never played the mini game - no real desire to play it.

I've also got a pretty extensive collection of Warhammer fantasy minis as well.

no.
i don't really care for the material they're made of, nor the paint jobs, and i don't care for random assortments.
that combined with the fact that the folks i game with don't really care for using minis has meant me not buying any.
although, if said folks were to somehow become interested in playing ddm, i'd probably pick up a few packs.

I have a complete collection through 4 or 5 sets which gave me quite sufficient amounts of minis to play D&D with - which was my original intent. I buy a few here and there now but not for particularly good reasons.

Its more like a plastic crack addiction.

I have yet to play the skirmish however. We have spoken of it often but never have.

Storage is only an issue if you don't get after it immediately.

I own several

I use them for both the minis game and the rpg, I started buying them due to the fact that the minitures I paint myself were getting marred by my players during the game. They can beat on the plastics and im fine with it.
