I have several characters written on the inside of some of my books. But I don't break out my crayons and start coloring stuff in :).

My books are often given the affection title of "well used", but I don't think I've ever actually colored them in. Labeled illustrations that depict NPC's yes, but colour no.

My 13 year old has used a highlighter to color entire pages of the classes she plays, druid and sorcerer. She also has put stickers all over the inside covers of her PHB and a Digimon book cover on the outside. She wanter it to be obvious whose PHB was her's. :)

I try to keep my books in good condition but I have a 9-year old brother and an 11-year old sister so needless to say it's difficult.

(My sister's ruined the binding on most of them, written her name on my Creature Collection and my PHB, and used whiteout to get rid of Devis's rapier in the illustration of him in my PHB, as well as whiting out Redgar's eyes. My 9-year old brother has only ripped out one page in my monster manual (and it's not a mental thing with my sister, I don't think. My reasoning being that one of the kids in her GIFTED class is in my gaming group.))

My copy of DNW has seen better days, but at least that one I can always reprint.

I got my copy of the star wars RPG used, so the corner's a bit messed up, and it's missing the character sheet.

Heh, what first got me into gaming was the AD&D (1st Ed.) Monster Manual, which I got when I was 10 years old. So many pictures, and so many colored pencils...

Then I realized there were stat blocks & gaming info with each critter, and from those mostly worked out the AD&D mechnaics on my own. It wasn't until a year or so later that I got another D&D item, only this time it was the D&D Boxed Set (black box with red dragon on fron).

Nowadays, though, I limit my book-markings to underlining certain blurbs of text, or boxing in parts that should be boxed in.

The very idea sends shivers up my spine. :)

I have RPG books that are 20 years old and people ask me where I bought a copy of that brand new. I've only had one gaming book start to break at the spine, and that was the first ed. Vampire rulebook; I got a replacement at WW's DragonCon booth and it never gave me any problems. Heck, my Champions 'Big Blue Book' never lost pages or cracked.

Never now, although I did color the monster book of my Dragon Warriors. (In French, it was called "Terres de Légendes", and was published in the same collection as those "hypertext" game books).

I agree :)

Although I did get bored one night while I was preparing a AD&D adventure and drew in a "Invisible stalker"

Thats been rubbed out for about 6 years now but some of my players still joke about it :D

One thing I have done though is mark all the errata in my first printing of the PHB & DMG with a * so I know there is errata for the item.

I grew up in a house with 5 other kids - 5 other rather destructive kids, so I got used to my books not being in the best of condition. Now, I have friends who aren't that careful with things, so I get a couple books messed up here & there. Being how I grew up, I really don't mind, & I even have written my name in all of my books, just so my friends will stop accidentally taking my books home with them.

But I wouldn't color in them.

Nah. I did write some of the most important errata on the 3E PHB and DMG, in pencil and very lightly. That's it. I'm not a fanatic, all my manuals are used, I wouldn't dream of writing on any out-of-print manual, and I'm reluctant of writing on any manual that isn't all but assured to stay very common for very long (ie, 3E core manuals).
