Do you do this when you read?

When you read, do you ever stop to just think about the book and characters? I do this a lot, which results in me taking longer than usual(a week, instead of a couple of days) to read a book. I like to take it slow when i am reading.

Nope, I just plow on through.
I may think about it while in the shower or at work, but reading time is just reading time.

I usally think about stuff like that when I'm done reading for the night, not while i'm reading the book.

When I'm reading a good book, I'm totally immersed. It's like a little movie playing in my head... I can visualize the characters, 'hear' their voices, and it's all drawing me into the story.

When I'm reading a bad book, I'm picking apart the sentence structure, bad dialogue and unrealistic characters. ;)

I may sometimes pause to consider what might happen if someone out of my head showed up at that point in the narrative. If this happens, I consider the book to be good, because it's provoked an emotional response from me (as mediated through one of my stable of godlike characters). Something I read less is more gripping, if you want to put it that way.

Someday, of course, I'll write stories about those godlike characters myself, and wonder if someone else is having these thoughts about my stories...
