Do you game in Greyhawk?

I have run Greyhawk stuff in the past. Currently, everything has been either Forgotten Realms or Eberron. I really, really like Eberron, so I doubt Greyhawk will be making any future appearances.

I've used it for about twenty years, but it is not the only campaign world that I use. The Greyhawk that I use is slightly modified from the official world.

I was wondering how many of you game in the 'generic' DND world of Greyhawk?

I do.

Is your version the 'standard' version (relatively few changes from established material) or is it a 'customized' version (changes that deviate greatly from established material)?

I really only have two customizations. 1) I put back into Greyhawk what was taken out to make it 'generic', such as using St. Cutberth from the LGG not the PHB. 2) I've cut down on what magic players can make and buy. Greyhawk has always been a treasure rich world. If the player can make something easily, the wonder and fun of finding magical treasure is drastically reduced.

Well after many years in FR, I have recently returned to Greyhawk.
For a long time Ive been looking for a lower magic setting to replace the way too magical FR. After looking at alot of settings, I decided to come back.
Besides the old school memories, the setting just sits well with me. Its rich with history and yet remains easy to customize. The Living Greyhawk Gazetteer is excellent.

In FR you cant do anything drastic without major changes to that area/region of Faerun. Greyhawk is much easier to work with IMO. Not every Tom, Dick and Harry are Mages and there arent as many godlike characters around to save the day if the adventurers fail.

Currently we are running through Mad God's Key from a previous Dungeon which kicked off our new campaign. So far it's been outstanding.

All Greyhawk, all the time.

We pretty much play in Greyhawk exclusively. Have since 1988.

Dabbled a bit with Forgotten Realms, but it never 'took' with our
group like the original Greyhawk did. Right now, we are actually
trying something different by playing a bit of Iron Kingdoms.

That said, as soon as the IK campaign winds down, I have a
feeling we'll be playing Castles & Crusades Greyhawk, using the
original folio & box set, and several of the original modules. We
might try and fit in Castle Zagyg.

I've never run a Greyhawk game. I ran homebrew until Planescape came out, then ran a homebrew-PS hybrid for a while, then just switched over the Planescape. Oh, and there was a short stint in Ravenloft.

I've run a fun homebrew campaign and some other game systems and settings, but overall its mainly been Greyhawk.

First big campaigns I ran were set in the old '83 boxed set (campaigns were from '86-'92). Picked it up again a bit in 2nd edition ('95-'96 and some in '97-'99). A terminally short game right at the end of 2nd edition (lasted like 3 games). Then in 3rd edition I started it in Greyhawk again and ran that game for about 8 months. Later another campaign in 3rd that went over into 3.5 (that game went over a year I believe). Then a 3.5 campaign set in Rel Astra where they were most thoroughly mercenary in nature.

And now my newest game has gone a sort of vague retro. I started it in the oldest boxed set cy576. My plan is to keep taking it forward until it reaches the current year of my other Greyhawk campaigns (cy598).

Long story that has dragged on too long now is this. None of these many campaigns were fully self-contained. All have had mention, crossover characters, stories about, and events of legend that have impacted the other games. One major NPC was a villain in 3 of the campaigns before the longer running 3rd ed finally saw her death when everyone was around 17th level. Players seem to like the organic feel of it all.

I'm still running my campaign in Greyhawk, though I'm using D&D 3.5 this time around. It was the first of the published campaign worlds I ran the game in, even though I've played in FR and DL. With the exception of some really hokey names (i.e. Gnarley Forest), Greyhawk will always be the setting that I'll run the majority of my games in.

I have changed the names to protect the guilty. That is, the Gnarley Forest has become the Gnarled Forest, etc. Aome of the names bothered me, so I recently began slightly altering the worst of them.
