Do YOU have "personal" dice?

I've lost several d20s by discarding them over my shoulder in disgust.

Normally they end up somewhere predictable... but occasionally they manage to vanish...

I have a set of Dwarven Stones (hematite, specifically) and I still have my very first d20 (the light blue, fill-it-with-crayon from the D&D Basic set), nobody touches those.

Typical exchange between my players and I.

Me: "Need some dice?"
Player: "Yeah"
Me: "Here take these."
Player: "No, that one hates me!"
Me: "They're dice, they're random."
Player: (rolls die) "See it hates me!!!"
Me: "AAARG, THEY'RE RANDOM!"
Player: (rolls a bunch until s/he finds one that rolls high repeatedly) "I'll take these."

Later that night.....
Player: (rolls badly) "Ack, These dice hate me!"
Me: *twitch*
Heh, that’s really funny, and far too familiar reaction. Nobody actually uses the dice that I put out for use after the first time they try them. Even though there’s nothing wrong with them.

I have a talent when rolling for NPC attack rolls. My players just hate it when I roll five natural 20 in a row during combat. On the other hand my skill checks really suck.

Most people in my group are fine with letting others use their dice, but they do all have their little dice superstitions. I couldn't care less one way or the other about what dice I use as long as I can see the numbers clearly (who got the idea to make light yellow dice with white numbering anyway?). So it's quite amusing to see people rolling d20s to supposedly use up the bad luck or changing dice mid-game. Plus it's always fun to say "Don't roll a 1" or "You just need to get above a 3" once in a while, just for the anguished cries of "Don't say that - you'll jinx me!"

I have a few sets of dice that I use when DMing, and no one else generally uses them. Although, since I'm DMing, I don't generally care if they roll high or low, and when I've tried to use them as a player, I don't fare too well. For that reason, I'll generally use other dice when I'm on the player's side of the screen, but not any set in particular, and not anything that I care about anyone else using.

I have a very small dice collection, only one of which nobody can touch. It's a deep purple, marbley 20 sider with gold numbers. It's purdy.

Most guys in our group bring their own bag of dice each time and are pretty loose about passing them around.

I have a black and white speckled D20 that I get out when DMing a fight with a major villain. It is notorious for rolling 17+ pretty consistently. My players call it the "cookie and cream" as lame as that is! lol
