From what I've seen so far, yes I generally like the system on its own, devoid of any relationship to my D&D games.

It's only once I start thinking of replacing my D&D / D20 games with this new system that the concerns / issues / problems come up. WotC hasn't convinced me that this system is in any way an improvement over the D&D I'm currently playing.

After 14+ hours of play at DDXP, I like 4E much more than I expected to. It's a different game than 3.5 that requires different expectations.

I will continue to run 3.5/OGL as my system of first choice, however. All my home stuff will remain 3.5, but I will support 4E by running it for RPGA games.

I would expect that most of those dissillusioned with 4e are not browsing the 4e forum.

You are preaching to the choir. Try running this poll on the paizo boards and see what result you get :\

I'm sold on buying and playing the original three books.

If it becomes my primary system of choice remains to be seen, though it has already beaten 3.X in that department.

I personally like both what 3.X has done, and also what 4e has done.

I'll play both, interchanging between campaigns...having moved out from the city to the country recently I just need to find me a group of players.

Change is good, but so is tradition if that makes any sense. One thing I will say about 4e though - monster stat blocks are easier to make up, prep is faster - gameplay is not but I would rather spend time playing then in preparation. I hope everyone can agree with that.

Poll wise I have to start somewhere. So I started here. Thank you guys for replying, especially Delta for your help. I still find it interesting that at the time of posting this reply around 20% of the users who visit 4e forums are still unsold on the new product.

It is too early. There are things I already know about it that will likely make it less fun than other editions I prefer. But... those may be able to be swapped out. The ease of DMs to run the game they want, the siloing power, that's a big step forward from an equation-based balancing game.
