Made the switch a couple years ago and now I can't stand listening to standard radio because of all the advertisements. Favorite programs include:

This American Life
The Splendid Table
To the Best of Our Knowledge
Fresh Air
Marketplace
Whad'Ya Know?
Wait Wait Don't Tell Me
American Mavericks
American Radio Works
Day to Day
Midday on MPR

Best thing is that almost all of their programs from the last 5 years or so are archived online, so if I'm bored at work, I just find something interesting and educational to listen to.

The tone of NPR puts me to sleep--something to be avoided while driving.

Agreed. Any talk radio (and audio books, etc) knocks me right out. I have my iPod and a cassette adapter, no worries.

I used to listen regularly when I had a 45 minute commute to work. Now I occasionally listen, usually on Saturday's for 'Car Talk' and 'What do you know?'

I listen fairly regularly, as it covers stories with greater depth than the local radio news station. Mind you, some of the topics in different stories are of more interest to me than some others.

Yep, heard the piece this morning. Those guys they interviewed were something else, weren't they?

I would love to hear a This American Life story on gamers; hopefully it'd be friendly toward them, like their story on goths was. Oh, for the chance to game with Sarah Vowell!

I am a rabid listener and supporter of NPR. I live in a city which is blessed with 3 great public radio stations, so pretty much all my NPR/PRI addictions are covered, from THIS AMERICAN LIFE, to PRARIE HOME COMPANION, to MORNING EDITION (*and* ALL THINGS CONSIDERED), FRESH AIR, etc. etc. etc. Plus lots of "golden age" radio shows.

NPR/PRI is my primary news source (and, yes, I too am cheesed off over them let Bob Edwards go, but the reporting quality has not suffered)

alsih2o and I went to college with Steve Inskeep, so I'm not complaining about it. :) He never played D&D with us that I recall, but he's a pretty decent chess player.

I used to listen to it, but now I have an iTrip and my iPod, so I listen to that. Maybe I'll listen to it the next time I go driving, though. What did the D&D piece have to say about us?

I voted "regularly," but by that I mean I listen to one specific program on a regular basis each week: Stephen Hill's "Music from the Hearts of Space," which by me is on from 11:00 PM to midnight on Sunday nights. I tape the program on 120-minute cassettes and listen to them just about all the time while I'm in my library/den. I have about 300 hours of spacemusic as a result. Great stuff!
