Why not use the DM's book for character building then, and get rid of the obsolete books?
I think I've completely lost the thread of what you're arguing.

There are no obsolete books. The new books are not replacements. They are merely a 2nd on-ramp to the same place everyone is going, which is a 5e game.

I assure you - those opting to stick with 2014 are not going to feel both are 5e games.

You are objecting because I didn’t add that tiny and IMO should have been assumed clarification… Okay, you are totally right on this part.
but someone who uses the 2024 books in my game is still in MY game, which is a 5e game.
its not a 5e game to those that wont allow 2024 stuff in their 5e game.
