Do you recall a nostalgic D&D picture/illustration?

Deities and Demigods w/ Cthulhu

The image of Yog-sothoth wrapping a dripping tenticle around the wrist of a very frightened princess by Earl Otis. If some could post it it would be apreiciated.

I forget if this was the 1e Fiend Folio or 1e Monster Manual 2, but there was this beefed up fighter or barbarian wielding a two handed sword on top of some steps.

He had just finished slicing a lizardman. Great action shot.

Fiend Folio

edit: a day late and a dollar short...d'oh

The cartoons in the 1e DMG always made me smile.

I also really like that shot from the inside front of the 2e players handbook with the hanging dragon. Its so small and they are so proud. (Actually a lot of the artwork used for the 2e full page illustrations were pretty good.)

But the one that always sticks in my head is the image of the lone female fighter in the snow facing a giant skeleton. It was one of the art panels for the seperators in the 2e Monstrous Compendium. She looks cold and desperate. If someone could find a link to that picture I would be thrilled - I don't even know who did it, though it might have been Elmore.

Paladin in Hell was a favorite for a long while, then later I loved the cover to the Companion rules. That armor clad knight with a green glowing super long two handed sword facing off against a green dragon on a cliff. Elmore really captured the feel of the game in that one image for me.

I've always been rather partial to the line illustration opposite the bard class description in the 2e PH. I wasn't sure whether it was supposed to be the tomb of an amazon queen or a valkyrie bound in magical sleep but it seemed to capture the wonder and mystery that are supposed to be a part of the game for me.

If it's the picture I'm thinking of, it originally appeared in S4, Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth...

SPOILER ALERT

The picture is of Drelnza, the daughter of Iggwilv, who is now a vampire. Don't wake her up! She can be very cranky in the morning...

There was a AD&D comic, feating a thief called "Fineous Fingers"

which featured many of the DnD stero types.

The most musing of which was the party stading behind Fin, whil he listened at the door. Across the hall was a second door.

The other door opens, unbeknowst the the party, intent of what Fineeaous is doing, and a huge mosnter grabs the fighter in the reas, and eats him!

...the the while, finease is describing exactly that, as if the noice was coming from behind the door HE is listening to.

Hilarious.

the Name of the Wizard? "Bored Flak, the Bolt Lobber"

Two off the top of my head...

1. The back cover of White Plume Mountain - The guy holding Blackrazor.

2. The back of Descent... - The hungry mind flayer.

A few more recent pictures that I like.

1. The cover of The Vault of LArin Karr - Dont miss the hand crossbow wielder in the top right corner.

2. Somewhere in Banewarrens - The Mind Flayer riding the Beholder.

That's my favorite Dragon magazine cover of all time. #126, Daniel R. Horne.
