Do you run multiple PCs?

I have DM'ed games with only one player running a party 4 PCs. Fortunately, the player is rather good at running multiple players. This has worked out well for us. It's not as fun as having 4 players, but it's still fun.

It also helps when I just want to run a published adventure designed for 4, but don't have time to do a lot of 'adjusting'. I just do the normal prep work and off we go.

I've been allowing players to run more than one PC for the last couple years. It started in our epic campaign, when I started handing off NPC cohorts and letting the players run them, letting me focus more on the module. It continues in the Age of Worms campaign. The players roll up their main characters, and if I want to add a character to spice up the story, that character becomes a new PC made by me and handed off. It lets me have fun making characters and watching them unfold.

I've been considering doing this in my next campaign... but not multiple pc's at the same time... I'm thinking more along the lines of each person gets two characters, and one stays in the keep. They can switch out between adventures though - boredom or necessity.

I used to. Back when I first started gaming, I had four or five characters in one game. That is only because I had one GM and no tother players though.

Usually yes I do. In my group one of the players has a cleric and a wizard (each with their own accent btw) and it is amusing when those characters get in an argument with one another. He plays it perfectly and it's very entertaining.

We have run two PCs each for almost all of our 20 years of playing together as a group. This is easier to do when the group is small like ours, usually only three players. I would limit it if our group grew too large.

Never had much problems in running two characters. One of the more amusing times was when my two PCs grew to dislike each other and were constantly snipping at each other, verbally that is. :D

I've tried it and seen it tried and it doesnt work out for the style I run. I dont even do familiars, henchment and such anymore.
