D&D (2024) Do you think they will add more races to PHB2024 to make up for dropping other stuff?

The Spelljammer material was extremely lore-light and changed the cosmology for no good reason.

Can you clarify the change you think is “no good reason?”

The "Ravenloft" setting they wholesale invented bears very little resemblance to any previous version of it, is intended to be as artificial as possible to discourage spending much time there or investing in the setting, and should have just been a different place altogether.

I very much doubt that. If, as you claim, the motive is money then the design you describe goes against that.

It has been a while since I looked at VGtR, but i found it very inspiring and drove me to look at older Domains of Dread content. Thorough a liked the updates in VGtR it was good to get some more background

I like all that 3rd edition lore. 3e D&D had more books and accessories for it's versions of today's settings. Take the Eberron setting. Back in the 3e era, you had the campaign setting, 16 accessories, and 5 adventures.

In 4e, you had 2 core books for the Eberron setting, no accessories, and just three adventures.

As for 5e, 2 core books, no accessories and only 2 adventures.

I have no idea on how many 3pp work for 3e, 4e or 5e were done for this setting. But if you wanted to immerse yourself in the lore of a given setting, it is better to stick with the lore of a past edition than a current one.

How many DMs out there have adapted the 3e lore of a given setting for 5e? curious
