Me neither, but there are people who do want it. Just like there are things I don't want removed.
If it released with 5e, and let's be honest these origins are part of the fabric of D&D, then who are we to say "well I don't care, so it can go"

Yeah well, the playtest spoke, much of what I wanted did not get added, they did not manage to keep what they wanted. That is life. They at least can still use the 2014 Half-X races.

In OG Planescape Tieflings, Genasi, and Aasimar could pretty much look like whatever you wanted them to look like, but appearance was completely unique, as long as they had the usual arrangement of limbs (plus tail) and such for humaniods you were fine (although original Tieflings, Aasimar, and Genasi were Not concider humaniods, they were Outsiders or in current terms, Fiends, Celestials, and Elemental, it was only later in 3.5e when they because a major Forgotten Realms races, that they released a humanoid version, one that also didn't a level adjustment).

I save my spite for my other forums/hobbies, or Wizards in general. The very personal/DYI nature of D&D, and the very very low bar to meet (simply dont remove it) says Wizards is just not really making a good choice here.
There are threads on this forum alone, with people saying 'please dont take away what I feel is representative of me'.
Seems a low hanging fruit not to ruin that, but oh well.

Existing players will have access to the half-elf and half-orc via their existing books, and they will be options in the SRD so everyone will still have them on DDB... so the options aren't being removed from the game. In comparison, there will still be the variant human option in DDB and in existing books we already have, even if it isn't in the PH2024.
There isn't a person who wants access who won't have free access. It doesn't need to be in the 2024 book and it isn't a betrayal for it to be removed.
