D&D (2024) Do you think they will add more races to PHB2024 to make up for dropping other stuff?

But to be exact I largely disagree with your basic premise that any major change should never be allowed. You would rather all things stay the same and never be updated. The idea that trying to reboot or bring something back is disrespectful is overly harsh towards people who were fans of the same thing.
Update all you like. Don't change the past.

Ravenloft used to be a lot more contiguous, with several different Darklords. Spelljammer used to have wildspace and the Phlogiston, not dots of space in the Astral Sea. Sure looks different to me.

Are you kidding me?
Yeah and those books still exist the past has not changed. The reboot can make changes. (Though Wildspace still exists)

The reboot making changes to the history as presented in older editions is a retroactive change of the past. Saying it still is the same way in 2nd edition or whatever, so nothing has changed, is either disingenuous or missing the point entirely.

While I don't personally think that the changes are significant changes (and a few, though certainly not ALL) are changes for the better, I couldn't possibly try to argue that they are not, in fact, changes.

Those settings have been changed. I'd personally either change things back, if I like the old way better, or just change it again, if I think I gave a better idea, but I can't argue with anyone who wants to complain about the changes. Well, I guess I can, but it wouldn't be very useful for anyone.
