Do you use a computer program (such as DM Genie)? (poll)

I use e-tools to prep my encounters. I use Heroforge to prep any major NPCs and I know my players use it to build their PCs.

Heroforge, yup
Etools, yup
Fantasy Grounds..yup for one game
SSA-X2 calculating character PDF, yup...but only sometimes...
Autocad (Mapping...religious icons, etc.) yup
Adobe 6.0 Professional - Creating Handouts yup...
and an assortment of other miscellaneous programs...

I guess my answer is yes. ;)

I use a random tree map generator, but that's all.

I can keep track of my own campaign material and I have never seen a character generator that does skills on its own (when a chargen doesn't give any ranks in Concentration to a wizard, you know there are problems there).

I had a friend who is in computers at university and runs a game from a laptop. Despite his skill, there have been more than the occasional hiccup. From my PoV, all it is really useful for is keeping track of encumberance.

When I DM I do use a laptop with DM Genie being the predominant tool I use (asides from Wikidpad as campaign organizer and an offline copy of the sage SRD). I think the combat tracking alone in DM Genie makes things go prety easy.

Now when I play I keep the computer far, far away from the table. I don't really have a need as a player to need one. I do use the SSA-X2 PDF for my character sheet, but I print it off before coming to the game.

Yes.

CCPro, and its add ons, for maps. (FR Atlas)
AstroSynthesis for space/star systems.
Fractal Terrains for planet surfaces.
City Overseer for 3D, although not as much anymore as it isn't supported.
Weathermaster for, um, weather.
Combat Manager for d20 combat.
TreePad for notes on sessions and ideas.
BLAZONS for heraldry.
Everchanging Book of Names.
JH Names Gen for names.
Tablesmith for names.
Translation programs for languages.

Others:
DVR to record sessions.
MSoft Publisher to create newspapers and other handouts.
MSoft Access for various databases.
Streets & Trips, or equal, for modern games.
The font thing to look at fonts that I used in things.
Ed's Exalted for Exalted characters.
White Wolf's vampire character creator for WW.
Legacy 5.0 to create family trees of characters and NPCs.

I think that's most of it. It is the major ones, anyway.

Have a good one! Take care!
