So my question to you... would you like to have (and thus purchase) updated core books with all the updates (errata) put in. I feel we are at a time when at least the original core books can be reprinted without too many more erratas in the future.
No. I don't want to buy any more books at all, ever again.

They could make better use of change management software to show us highlights of specific things that change, but otherwise, looking stuff up online is far easier for me.

Especially monsters, because it's so easy to copy & paste them into one-page encounters.

Errata to fix broken stuff I dont mind. That or I just fix it. Creep is alot more difficult to adapt to.

Technically, I also include breaking original design principles in power creep, so I would pretty much consider the entire psionic power source to be creep even if it wasnt any numerically better. All the other power sources are mechanically identical, so psi should have been also.

This is all personal opinion tho. Except for the errata being as big as the PHB, that can be checked :) I really dont like that 4e has gotten to the point where is has more errata than star fleet battles, or that they are tweaking the system more than SFB gets tweaked. I dont want to have to keep up with the errata. Every time someone goes 'wait, didnt that change' time gets wasted that could be used in better places.

That's cool, I am going to bow out of the debate, since we obviously have two very different opinions on what constitute a power creep. No wonder we do not agree ;)

Cheers

No... like a new printing of the MM1 which has both errata and the monsters revamped to be more in line with the new ideals behind monster design. ...or a new printing of the PHB1 which has all of the errata...

But if you are going to revise EVERY SINGLE monster in MM1 then why bother? Just make a whole new book with new versions of monsters. Maybe call it MM3 or Monster Vault. Really what would be needed would be improved versions of old standbys like dragons. They can simply be named something slightly different, like Red Dragon Deluxe or whatever.

Anyway, I voted no. I don't think for a minute that errata is going to cease at any given point in time. I don't see it stopping any time soon at any rate and a book that was obsolete again in 6 months at most would be pointless.

Contrary to what some other posters have said its just not a problem to print out the errata for specific books, slap it in an binder and check it if you really need to. Any DM that doesn't have the core rules pretty much to heart in any case seems pretty odd to me. I haven't looked up a general rule in a good long while. Changes to powers and such are trivial, they show up in CB and get incorporated on the player's sheet, so big deal. Who cares about errata to monsters? I use the stat blocks I like and customize them anyway, what's in the MMs is just grist for the mill. If I happen to use it and I happen to not notice it got errata and it worked fine for that encounter then what do I care?

Here's an idea for easily updating Core Books with errata.

What about Wizards selling the Core books in a Loose leaf format so that errata could easily added by Wizards just reprinting (PDF'ing) the errata and the original and then the players/DM's print it and replace the correct page.

I know, simple and probably stupid but Eh, worth a try :)

Yeah, a PDF with errata for DDI members would be great. And if it was leaked or pirated, well that's only spreading the updated rules around, right? Not like they're releasing hardcover anymore. Then again, I suppose it'd step on the toes of the Rules Compendium, which I imagine is a mix of the PHB and DMG.

Considering the number of players I know who started getting into 4E a year or so after launch but do not own their own PHBs and deliberately choose not to buy them ("because at least I have everything up to date on the Character Builder") I'd say there is a market for this.
