Ain't It Cool News is posting some major info on the future of the good Doctor's continuing adventures.

" We've been deluged with two major bits of “Doctor Who” news over the last 24 hours:
1) Though the BBC is airing its 27th season finale on Saturday, the series just got a greenlight for a 29th season. There will also be a Christmas special between the 28th and 29th seasons.
2) Despite rumors to the contrary, Billie Piper – who plays the Time Lord’s hot little sidekick – will not only return for the 28th season, she’ll be in all 13 of its episodes. "

They also have a review of the 27th season finale. Check it out at http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/display.cgi?id=20483

The cultural and ratings success of the new Doctor Who is a very significant event in the UK culture, showing that imaginative television is a mass and not a 'cult' concern, and opening the doors for other UK series not set in houses, polices stations and hospitals.

Woohoo!!!

Now if we can just get Barrowman back as Captain Jack Harkness, at least for some recurring roles.

[EDIT] Just noticed this at the Outpost Gallifrey link- "... and that John Barrowman (Captain Jack) will be returning to the series next year but will not appear in the first block of episodes. (Says our correspondent, Barrowman was also in the audience at the screening, and when Davies announced his return, he yelled out, "And I'm willing to get naked again, too!")"

Awesome news!

Actually now we've had the reality TV link I half expect Dr Who to have a crossover with Casualty or Easteners!

I was pleased to see that bit of news this morning, as it would be disappointing to lose both a Doctor and a companion so soon. :D

I do partly agree with Flexor, though - I don't object to seeing Rose's mum and Mickey, but I do wish that they'd get away from Earth more and show us some more new aliens other than the Slitheen.
