Nope. Not a hoax. Not even a sick joke. It's true. If you doubt me, check out this press release from the BEEB here . You can also check out this pic:

First off, let me just say I'm a big Billie Piper fan and I loved Rose as a companion. That said, I can't help but feel a bit of unease at this bit of news. Rose's exit in Season 2 was perfect in my view. So what's the point of bringing her back, if only to cheapen the impact her leaving had on the Doctor and the series as a whole? I do hope that they write a good enough reason for her return, and not something to boost the ratings (as if Doctor Who needed it!).

Agreed. I like Rose, but I thought they handled her farewell from the series really well. Bringing her back - even temporarily - kind of ruins that a bit.

Plus, the Doctor caused a star to go supernova just so he could give her a final farewell message. Kind of sucks to waste a perfectly good star for what turns out to be no real reason at all.

However, that said, I suppose if the Doctor were to pick up Rose-from-the-past-at-some-point-between-previous-adventures (after all, he dropped her off at home quite frequently between adventures) and traveled with her for awhile, that would be a good way to do it. Plus, it's not something that's done often, and would be kind of cool if only for that reason. (Offhand, I can't think of anyone that traveled with the Doctor who was "out of synch" with the Doctor's personal timeline like that, with the possible exception of the time the two Brigadiers from different time periods met up with the fifth Doctor in "Mawdwyn Undead.")

That's one of the cool things about time travel. If you and I each had a TARDIS of our own, we could each attend the other's funeral!

Bleech.

I am not a Rose fan I was jumping up and down with joy when she left for good.

I just hope that it is not cheesy. The doctor and her shared this great adventure and she only left because she didn't have a choice. If she is back just for one episode it will be kind of hard to explain why she does not stay.

I'll be pleased to see Rose's return, however brief it may be. I can't imagine it will be too many episodes: between the telemovies based on Philip Pullman novels and Secret Diary of a Call Girl, she's already got a fair bit of work on her hands.

Love is the best reason to supernova a star

It is my understanding that she is back for at least a 3 episode arc if not longer.

Maybe I will get lucky and in the end whe will have a huge death scene sacrificing herself to save the docot and the universe.

As much as I dislike Rose my main issue with her coming back is that they ended it so perfectly. She was alive but as might as well have been dead as far the doctor was concerned. He was left to grieve and try and move on. See bringing her back just cheapens that for me.

I don't mind old characters coming back like with Sarah Jane because it made sense she was there on Earth it didn't change the timeline any. I wouldn't mind seeing some other old companions come back as long as it was not Leyla or Romana who should both be dead from the war.
