No. Not at all. Just like a movie is a series of scenes, RPG gameplay is a series of encounters.

Don't forget though that rule 0/42 of BADWRONGFUN is if you don't like any of the rules presented- TOUGH BECAUSE ANY CHANGE YOU MAKE WOULD BE JUST BADWRONGFUN IN NAME ONLY.
