Does a magic weapon still feel... magic?

One player in my game was a human raised by dwarves whose signature weapon was a dwarven waraxe ... all of his feats pointed towards it, etc.

So, in order to give him a magical weapon without taking away his favored goody, I included an encounter with the ghost of a dwarf warrior who had been slain by the BBEG; in exchange for giving his body a proper burial, the ghost instilled some of his essence into the axe ... giving him a +1 ghost touch dwarven waraxe where he'd just had an ordinary one before.

(He later lost it fighting a gray ooze ... that's the way the cookie crumbles. The poor player was devastated worse by that than he would have ever been if the character had simply died in combat.)
