Does a whip threaten an area?

Well the whip is considered a ranged weapon so can it threaten squares?

No, ranged weapons do not threaten any spaces.

Thanx for pointing out your house rules PS. Sunday my DM had some Ettins weilding giant whips and they were making AoO with them. I figured this wasn't strictly correct but I didn't say anything because I agree the whip as it stands is a pretty useless weapon. (I'll take getting hit with a whip at 20' than a giant club at 10' any day! )

Actually they were making ranged grapple attackes with them too.... maybe I'll suggest your house rules to my group next session.
