Does anybody not use dungeons?

While I know the game is called first "Dungeons..." does anybody not really use the typical underground caves/dungeon crawls in their campaigns?

We don't consider ourselves to be a role playing only or a combat only group, but we rarely have dungeon crawls in a campaign. Most of the combat takes place outdoors and above ground. I remember a long campaign we were in, and the only real dungeon crawl the whole time was a one session side adventure when a couple of the guys were absent for the week...

I rarely use Dungeons unless it's actually a dungeon crawl and in such a case the party is looking for something specific and gets outas soon as they go in.

Dpends on what you mean by Dungeon

IMC I've used
1. the Spider Caves from WOTC as the final stage of the exploration of an Island (and recovery of an artifact from the cave)

2. A Collapsing Coral Makatea which is rapidly forming a Caldera

3. A narrow canyon

4. A Swamp

5. A Sahuagin Lair

by "dungeon" i mean an area, usually underground, where the PCs explore numerous rooms or areas where natural sunlight is not available (i.e., the Underdark, the Caves of Chaos, the tomb that Indiana Jones enters at the beginning of "Raiders of the Lost Ark", etc)

yeah, but by god we'll never build one!

Yes we use dungeons, though i wish we didnt have too. They have always been my least favorite part of the game, but they also seem to be the most rewarding in terms of L33t G3@r to distribute to the characters. More killing without regret goes on down there too.

So yeah, as much as i dont like dungeons personally, they can be rewarding. Plus my DM continues to require it with things like lost artifacts that are malfunctioning and villains hiding in them.
