Does anyone else here use SAP?

Does anyone here on the boards have their company use SAP ?

My work is switching over to this software and my experience has been less than wonderful.

Frustrating is more like it.

Actually, the best thing to compare it to is the First Generation Windows Programs. The ones that ran off the DOS Shell & required you to know hundreds of obtuse commands to execute everything.

But, its here to stay & I've got to learn to live with it.

Does anyone else here have a lot of experience with this beast? Before a pull out the few hairs left on my head.

Thanks,

SAP = Poorly Designed

I use SAP and I don't like it. It's like they purposefully broke many of the basic, Design 101 rules.

The same icon does different things on different pages. Sometimes "Enter" does something; usually it does nothing. SAP can't always find data with a wildcard search, even if it's entered exactly correct. It can be very difficult to modify the screens, or to get the usable fields to default to the "on screen" option. Your comparison to DOS-Shell programs is apt. I used to use a few dos apps and they were easier to navigate than SAP is.

In short, I don't have anything particularly nice to say about SAP. Good luck!

Hate it. It's proven to be slow, annoying and awkward to use.

Gah. We're in the process of shifting our customers from our in-house financials package to SAP. And I drew the fun job of writing all the migration scripts to export our data for import into SAP.

At the same time, our company has moved all our timesheeting to SAP.

And like everyone else so far, I have nothing good to say about SAP :)

I've never used it, but I sympathize. I'm currently stuck in both my day job and my freelancer job using software suites that I hate. At least the freelancer gig is about up (after which time, I will never be approaching anything with ".NET" in the name again).

It's unfortunate that the people who make the decisions to buy these software packages have no idea how they actually work, or what the company will use it for. They just see a lot of buzzwords and the bottom line, and dive in. We need to stage an IT revolution and take the power for the people!
