Does anyone have E-Tools yet?

Believe me, I know what I'm seeing. I've done the math, I even looked for a "recalculate" button (ala Hero Forge).

It'll have to wait until this afternoon though.

I tried creating 1st level Human Ranger using the program. The stats included a 13 INT and a 16 CON. When I did the skill points for first level, I had 24 skill points to spend and 8 hit points at first level. I don't have my PH handy... could someone check the math on this?

24 skill points is correct: (4 (Ranger) + 1 (Human) +1 (Int Mod) ) * 4 = 24.

Hit Points may be correct if it gave you average hit points instead of max...(which would be wrong for a new PC).

I don't have the program...I'm watching this thread to see if it is worth it.

24 skill points is correct (ranger 4 + int 1 + human 1)x4 = 24.

If the standard "max HP at level 1" rule is used, the ranger should have 13 HP. A rolled HP value could have been as low as 4, so 8 is certainly a valid number for an NPC.

Screenshots would be great, or failing that more detailed description (the steps Fluid could use to recreate the error).

Better yet though would be if you could get to the forums. At least one person has reported success getting there by means of a link to a sub-forum or a single thread and that seemed to solve their problem.

Yeah, I'm mad as heck I blew $30+ on this. But if they can make it better for everyone else that doesn't feel that way because I want a quality product, great.

On a side note- if you dislike buggy softwate, then you should never ever buy initial releases of a software product. You are just begging to be annoyed.

I have found I should wait a month or two to allow the majority of the bugs to be flushed out and patched before spending my money on a product.

Yes, it is annoying that software companies can not put out bug-free products, but that is not likely to change any time soon.

Out of the gate software is never generally an issue for me.

I understand that publishers don't generally give developers the time they feel necessary to complete games (Microsoft actually does REALLY well in this department -- their games are almost never buggy.)

I'm a computer fanatic, I do it for a living. I don't mind working around certain things. I also love the game (D&D). So I'm willing to work around certain things if it makes my job (DM) easier.

Sometimes, things just aren't worth the money you pay for. I have never felt sick to my stomach over software before. I honestly felt ill that I spent money on this. That's not coming from having my expectations shot down (I intentionally did not follow the development of this software to keep my expectations sane) -- it's coming from honest to goodness heart wrenching.

I did manage to get the INT affecting skills worked out (it's not intuitive at all).

But, now I'm seeing negatives on skills where there should be none (-2 to Disable Device, Open Lock) -- none of my armor applies has an AC check penalty.

As well, I have Amulet of Natural Armor +1 and Ring of Protection +1 equipped (verified), but they don't affect my AC in my stat block or character sheet (or battle block).

Any time you attempt to add a custom item/feat, you must close the program, then reopen it to see them. Twice, I've been able to create a magic item (+x Mithral item)... when I go to purchase the item, there is no name below, and the entire program crashes if I hit OK (or accept, etc...). If I reopen, I can then add the item without a problem.

I have Hewards Handy Haversack, but can't put gear in it (to get an accurate encumberance). There may be a way to do this, but I haven't found it yet.

Can't make a custom feat (one of the class books) - "Dash" have it actually affect movement rate.

In my stat block it's not listing my multiple attack values. (Rog8/Ftr2)

Equipping my Axe, throwing +1, as a ranged weapon doesn't use my DEX modified BAB.

Some of those things are in fact legit bugs. Some of them are the limits of the program which have been described far and wide for a while.

One (the penalties to your thief skills) is due to the fact that if you don't have appropriate tools (in this case, a set of thieves' tools) you get a -2 penalty to those checks. You have to get those from the Purchase screen and make sure you indicate you are carrying them in order for the penalties to go away.

Can you e-mail me the .chr file where the ring and amulet aren't working? I'd like to see that one. ericnoah@charter.net

I really hope you can make it to the forums to post your other problems -- it makes a lot of sense to try to get all of that stuff together in one place. I certainly don't anticipate trying to do "tech support" (such as it is) on two forums.

Are you doing some sort of tech support in an official capacity for Fluid or are you just doing this on your spare time?

What's your assessment of e-tools (so far)?

I'm going to wait to purchase it until the major bugs have been worked out...
