Does anyone still play 3.0e?

No one in our group has any of the 3.5 rulebooks, so we're 3.0 by default.

Those of us who've looked through the SRD and read the 3.5 reviews really like most of the changes, though, so if we were wealthier (and if we were going to be playing D&D again anytime soon after our Scarred Lands game wraps up), we'd probably upgrade to 3.5.

Mind you, some of the changes to spells in 3.5 bug me (I think they went too far with the revisions in many cases), so in a way I'm glad we decided to save our money and not buy the new books right away; I'm playing the wizard in our game, you see. ;)

if we did upgrade, i'd be lobbying to re-revise some of those spells

My group still plays 3E. There are some 3.5 rules we'd seriously consider addopting but too many that are a turn off too. Eventually we'll probably take on the 3.5 ranger and barbarian but so far we just havn't gotten around to it.

Only if its running on the NT kernel...;)

As Henry said above, our group still runs on 3.0. And I, personally, don't foresee switching to 3.5 or even 4.0 unless I decide I want to play in someone's campaign who is running it, and then I'll ride off of their books. All buying the 3.5 set is going to do is show WotC that a lot of us are willing to buy new sets every couple of years. I'm not saying that's necessarily why they did 3.5 - I'll give them the benefit of the doubt once - but you know some marketing "genius" will realize this and in 10 years we'll have 7th Edition, no one will be able to agree on rules, and we'll all be jaded and sick of something we once loved.

I take that back - I might switch entirely to 4th Edition. But ONLY in 2014 or later. Give us all at least a decade, and then I'll BELIEVE we have enough fresh ideas to warrant it. Maybe.

My group has pretty much switched over to 3.5 for some reason. Of course, confusion now reigns as we are constantly finding the little changes scattered throughout the new books. Bah - I'm one of those embittered players that Shadow mentioned. When I move in a couple of months, I'll take my 3.5 PHB with me just in case, but I'm really hoping to find some group in the L.A. area still running a 3.0 game. Oh, to dream...

EDIT - Speaking of my move, I'll be having a massive d20 book blowout pretty soon. I barely use any of the books I've hoarded over the past few years, and I don't want to haul them cross-country if I can magically change any of them into cash. A big list of books and prices will go up in the appropriate forum in the next few days (hopefully).

It seems that Wizards has been very sucessful with 3.5e. From what I've seen the old 3e is all but dead, superseded by 3.5e. I know people who have sold their entire 3e collection (worth hundreds of dollars) after 3.5e was released. Of course there are a few enbittered players who refuse to switch out of spite for WotC. Then there are some who use a hybrid system. However, it seems like the vast majority of players have made the switch. Am I just a grumpy, enbittered 3.0e fanboy for refusing to make the switch? Does anyone still play 3.0e as written?
(Rant off)

I prefer D&D 3rd Edition to all other editions. Although I have the 3.5 SRD for writing purposes. I think 3.5 sucks in some places. Especially the miniatures. Maybe I should change my sig to "My Hat of Miniatures knows no limit!" :)

I'm not in a regular group right now, but my preference would be to stay with 3.0, with some 3.5 modifications. My PBEM still uses 3.0.

Still playing 3.0, but using random house rules to fix the issues it had. I don't like some of the 3.5 rules and I'll chuck them out the window whenever I finally switch over to 3.5 after my current campaign is over.

When 3.5 came out I left the decision to switch editions firmly in the hands of the players who uniformly rejected the idea.
