I think you are jumping quite a bit.
I'm not jumping at all, because I didn't make any claim other than so far the poll is conforming to my preconcieved notions, which is true, but also a slightly tongue in cheek comment in the first place.

Of course, I obviously didn't think hard enough concocting this poll, because it's easy to get false negative; folks who don't like the setting, but for different reasons than what I'm asking about, so my question is irrelevent in their case.

Oh well. It's not like I'd ever hold up an ENW poll result as a scientifically valid study or anything like that.

I love Eberron and I have a lot of experience with other games than dnd. I'm currently in a Warhammer fantasy campaign, just ran a Paranoia game a couple of weeks ago, and over the years have played a diverse set of rpgs including Mage, Vampire, Amber, Rolemaster, Top Secret, Gamma World, Star Frontiers, Earthdawn, Twilight 2000, 3 Worlds of Wonder, Stormbringer, Arduin, etc, etc, ad infinitum (nearly). :)

I was going to vote but found your poll lacking.

I've had experience with non-D&D rpg's, traditional D&D settings and non-traditional D&D settings and I like Eberron.

I would also venture a guess that people who voted that they played non-D&D rpgs and either liked or disliked Eberron have also the same experience of playing traditional and non-traditional D&D.

I have no idea when I have enough votes to even attempt to claim anything meaningful here, but so far the poll is conforming to my preconceived notions, anyway.

I think you are on to something. It seems, to me, that most eberron enthusiasts either have non-D&D or para-D&D experience, or little to no experience gaming at all. If you've only played grayhawk for 20 years, yeah, you like grayhawk.

Color me confused. That option is clearly labelled, if you read the first post instead of just the poll.

I missed that little bit at the end of your first post which I did read. *shrugs*

An echo of the sentiment that this poll shows more a reflection of Enworld having a larger community of 'other-RPG' expereinced role-players than what you intended.

Altho the base concept that if one is willing to accept more variety in your role-playing diet, you would be willing to accept the Eberron variety..seems kinda like common sense to me :)

There's a prominent school of thought (led by my lovely wife Julie) that theorizes that I don't have any common sense. :D

I like Eberron and I have substantial experience in non-D&D games and settings.

As regards the whole cognitive dissonance claim - that's the sort of tripe that really warrants narrowing the eyes and calling the speaker to either start backing up that statement or be seen as talking our their ass.

Cognitive dissonance. Feh. Big words are fun. Even more so when they're used properly. :p
