Does Favored Enemy(Human) cover half orc?

Like the title says, if a Ranger has "Favored Enemy(Human)", do they get to use that on half orcs (and half elves too, I supposed - not that anyone plays them).

Opinions are great and all, but I'm really after official clarification. From what I see in the PHB, it looks like a half orc is (just) and orc whenever it comes to race.

I'd say yes... but the RAW appears to say otherwise

SRD quotes

Orc Blood: For all effects related to race, a half-orc is considered an orc.

Elven Blood: For all effects related to race, a half-elf is considered an elf.

However, this means favored enemy (elf) would apply to half-elves...

it doesn't say so explicitly, but half-orcs essentially have the orc subtype and are therefore treated as orcs for all effects pertaining to race. this includes, but is not limited to, bane weapons, favored enemy, and feat requirements. favored enemy (human) only applies to creatures with the human subtype, which, as near as I can tell, is only humans.

Also, "Favored Enemy(Human) isn't an option, because "Human" is too broad a category, at least going by the chart in the PHB. You would have to take Favored Enemy: Humanoid (human). Meaning it only affects humanoids without a subtype, or with "human" as a subtype. If you wanted to go for Orcs, the Favored Enemy: Humanoids (Orcs) would be your choice.

Interestingly, and as a side note, the game Ice WInd Dale 2 allowed aasimaar and tieflings to take "human only" feats.

I wouldn't use that game as a guideline for rulings. They didn't exactly adher to the rules all that closely.

I think there were one or two other races in Races of Destiny that were human.

They're only half human, so you should only get half the bonus!

So, Lolth's Blessing would look like this?

"You may use clairau/clairvo, det li, dis mag, and sugge one-half times per day as spell-like abilities with a caster level equal to half your character level."

Gah!
