Does gaming slow down from Nov 15- Jan1?

woo hoo 12/18-can't wait!

That was exactly my reaction, too. Although it was more like jumping under and over than on...Wow!!!!!!

As for gaming over holidays, I always tend to be travelling, so I don't get to game. This Christmas I'll be spending time with friends who enjoy board games and such, so I'll be in for some Settlers of Catan and chess.

It slows down for us as well. Family time, vacation time, and the end of the year work crush takes priority.

I may do a little gaming though. My brother is flying in for Christmas this year so we may dust off one of his old PCs from before he moved away and play a one off with a small group.

I'm beginning to think my players plan their holiday schedules around my game. ;) Since I own my own business I hardly ever have a vacation so I'm pretty much available all through the holidays. My regular game has no college students so no one disappears for a month either.

Traditionally gaming does slow down during this time though.

Getting old has really affected gaming during the Holidays. 10 years ago we would of gamed twice as much as normal, everyone would be home from college with nothing else to do. Now people actually spend time with their families and such, not to mention work and the horrible shopping trips that take all day. The days of the 24 hour gaming session on New Years Eve are gone, I'll end up spending time with the family.

We thought when this time came we would have to cancel some of the games, but this year it seems that everyone is free all of the Sundays. And for our group that is odd since not only do we have the usual holliday mess, but I think all 8 of us have birthdays in December or the first week of January.

Our group usually has a hiatus in summer, because we don't synchronise our summer vacation trips. This usually also means that the first sessions will be "wasted" by telling eachother what happened in Greece/Spain/Bali/Scotland/France etc.

So That's how he does it! :D ( JK )

Yeah, I'm sure we will end up missing a session or three do to the crazy times coming.

Hal - I'm WAY too much of a d20 addict to wait until Dec 25th for my gaming fix.

The D&D enthusiasts holiday season is at/after Gen-Con! It seems to me THAT is when the product release bonanza is. Looks like next summer is already gonna break my wallet with the MCook PHB & the new WOTC books along with the rest of the planned "show" releases. I wish the industry could spread it around a bit instead of planning all the new shiny hardcovers for the same month!

IIRC the following books came out in about a three month period this year:

Oathbound
RR2
Necropolis
Occult Lore
Monsternomicon
Book of the Righteous
ELH
Nyambe
Villain Design Handbook

Ouch!

Not as much gaming for me. Most of my gaming group lives in or around my college town, yet does not attend the college (they all have actual jobs). Thus, when I go home for fall and winter breaks, they stay in town and game. I hope I might be able to pick up a game during break at my FLGS though. Even if it's just once or twice...
