By the way @Paul Farquhar, in D&D force is defined differently in any case.

"Force--------------------Pure magical energy"

Unless you're suggesting that the natural physical law is pure magical energy, you're barking up the wrong tree with this one.

The attack does not.

Oh yes it does, it is the attack specifically that does the damage, NOT the weapon. The attack itself breaks the laws of physics according to the spell.

Guided by a flash of magical insight, you make one attack with the weapon used in the spell’s casting. The attack uses your spellcasting ability for the attack and damage rolls instead of using Strength or Dexterity. If the attack deals damage, it can be Radiant damage or the weapon’s normal damage type (your choice).

You make the attack and the ATTACK deals the radiant damage. So the ATTACK itself is breaking the laws of physics.

No it doesn't. The hit does the damage. The attack does no damage at all. It's just a mundane swing of the dagger.

Again, no. The damage might, if the caster chooses not to do mundane weapon damage only, but the swing of the weapon(the attack) does no damage at all. It's just a swing of the dagger, like any other.

Did you read it? The attack does Radiant damage, that is what the spell says. It does not say if the weapon does damage, it says if the attack does damage.

You can change it to the mundane weapon damage, but it is still according to the description in the spell the attack itself that is doing the damage.

It says if the attack does damage. The attack is what is doing the damage according to the spell.

The swing of the weapon and the attack are not the same thing. One is the fiction (swing the weapon) the other is a mechanical abstraction (attack).

I suggest you read the combat rules, because attacks don't do damage. Hits do. If the attack hits, you can do radiant damage. The attack can miss, so it cannot be the attack that does the damage, or it couldn't miss. It would be like fireball.

LOL No. You can change it to radiant. It's a mundane weapon, so the default isn't radiant.
It says if the attack does damage. The attack is what is doing the damage according to the spell.
This claim of yours that attack=damage, means that damage=attack, which is absurd on its face.

Next time I play, I'm going to tell the DM I just stare at the enemy and don't swing my sword, then roll an attack to do damage and see how far that gets me. According to you, it will work, because the swing of the weapon and attack aren't the same thing.
