Does lycanthrope damage reduction apply to magic (non-silver) weapons?

I thought that any magic weapon could bypass the DR, but now I'm questioning that because I can't find it in the rules.

I suppose the same question could be asked of other types of DR. If a creature has DR 5/cold iron, would that mean no magic weapon bypasses the DR unless it is cold iron?

Where can I find it in the rules?

It's one of the 3.5 changes.

In 3.0, magic "trumped" materials, so any magical weapon could bypass Silver DR.

In 3.5, there's a difference between materials & magic, so a regular shortspear & a +7 Shortspear would both have their first 15 (or whatever) points of damage negated by a Lycanthrope's Silvery DR.

This info can be found in the back of the 3.5 MM, iirc.

Only weapons of the type specified penetrate DR now. You're remembering how it worked in 3.0, where there was a heirarchy of DR's, with +5 weapons (or higher, I guess) at the top. Now, all DR's are seperate and independant.

And your example nails it on the head.

The blurb on DR in the DMG (p. 291-2) covers it all.

Heck, it was mass debated to hell and back on these boards, in the leadup to 3.5E's release.
