Knights of the Old Republic

Reading through the Sage Edition reminded me how much I really enjoyed the "Knights of the Old Republic" games, and I wish they would hurry up and release the next sequel. :)

Will you settle for a sourcebook next year? :) They all-but-confirmed it at Celebration IV.

I am already planning a game set in the Star Wars "Legacy" timeline and will be stating up the equipment , ships, etc. that I've seen in that era so far. My game starts next week, so I've got plenty of time and I think playing in this era alleviates any issues with continuity or setting structure I might run into with other eras.

Would you mind sharing any of this? I'm planning a Legacy game myself, and could certainly use help with stats and whatnot.

I've been burned out a bit on D&D in general lately, especially running it.

Saga Edition has made me crave running and playing d20 SW like a
mad-man. I'm going to just hafta give in soon.

I ordered my copy from Amazon.com along with two Alliance and Empire boosters, and I just watched RotS for the first time in a while.

If it was just the Saga (not Sage, as confused someone else above) edition I probablly wouldnt be in a great Star Wars mood. But add into that my wife and I just got Star Wars Legos II: The Original Trilogy and the constructable minis game that just came out (although I am terrible at putting them together - I always break that kind of thing) I would have to say YES I AM!

But, between being a player in an ongoing campaign and running a d20 M mini campaign to play test somethings I doubt I will run or play it anytime soon. Maybe when the Force Unleashed CS comes out I might.

Although honestly, more than anything Saga makes me want to cannablize the concepts to create a homebrew fantasy game.

Yeah, in fact I'd love to brainstorm. I have a week and just got the game 3 days ago. I'm using issue 0 as a primer...and will start the game a week before the sith assault on Ossus, with the PC's away on a diplomatic mission( None of my players have read the Legacy comics so I think this will work out pretty well, especially since their mostly movie buffs and will think the sith still hold to the master/apprentice tradition).

Rough Draft for Opening...

It is a time of general peace and prosperity in the galaxy. Following the death of Emperor Palpatine the remainig Imperial forces, after being pushed back to the planet Bastion, entered a truce with the newly formed Republic. Peace held for decades under the watchful eye of Luke Skywalker's New Jedi Order, that is until it was invaded by a race of extra-galactic aliens, known as the Yuuzhan Vong.

These invaders killed uncountable people, devastated numerous worlds, and shattered the New Republic. They were finally defeated by an alliance of Jedi, Imperial Remnants and a Galactic Alliance of remaining systems. With the defeat of the Yuuzhan Vong the Imperial Remnant took control of the galaxy once again, restoring peace and order, with a seemingly benevolent emperor, named Roan Fel. But, as is usually the case...peace would not last

Roan Fel called for the remaining jedi to swear allegiance to the empire, most would not, but those who did became the Imperial Knights, trained force users whose first loyalty was to the emperor himself. Now war has begun again, after a seeming betrayal by those Yuuzhan Vong who had been resettled in the galaxy, the Empire issued an ultimatum, it was an ultimatum the Gallactic Alliance, under the guidance of the remaining Jedi, rejected. From their hidden base on the planet of Korriban a new order of Sith emerged. Totally different from their predecessors, except in the most ancient of records, they secretly allied themselves with the Empire. The two factions (Empire and Galactic Alliance) went to war which now comes to to an end, with only one possible result, as our story opens...victory for the Empire.

The Empire will be split asunder, pitting brother against brother...
Commanded by Sith of a new tradition, the power of the dark side stirs like never before...
The Jedi Order falls into twilight, hunted for bounties and forced into shadow...

It is a time of turmoil and darkness, a time of great challenges and hidden agendas, a time that teeters on the edge of chaos and darkness...You stand upon the edge of the chasm...What will your Legacy be.

Here's some stuff in issue 0 that I'm thinking about converting

NEW FORCE TRADITION:
Imperial Knights(this might take a little while, but I actually think the Jensaarai are a good place to start and would require very little modification)

NEW STARSHIPS:
Pallaeon-class Super Star Destroyer
Sienar Predator
Incom CF9 Crossfire Fighter
Jedi x-83 Twintail Fighter
Jedi Shuttle
The Mynock

NEW EQUIPMENT:
(alot of) Lightsaber variants(Darth Nihl's weapon; Imperial Knights lightsaber, etc.) plus I think that this would be fun and the Jedi/sith knowledge has gotten back to the point where it's possible to create variant lightsabers. I'm actually going to try and come up with some rules for customizing lightsabers...maybe modeling them on D&D weapons. I
Bluebolt Blaster

I've got issues 0 through 9 so far and will be going through them over the next couple of days for inspiration and stuff.
