Does this character seem as cool to you as it does in my head?

That's a really cool idea! Of course, I may not be a good judge of characters.

I hope to someday play a Bard 9/Alienist 1/Sublime Chord 10. Visions of a mad-scientist/mad-arcanist blaring out a tune on a pipe organ to boost his caster level before attempting a horrifying planar binding just appeals to me. ;)

Indeed. And it might look something like this. :D

Repeated descriptive fluff generally falls by the wayside - after a few times around, you won't be using the full description of what happens when he uses a particular ability.

To me, what he does is merely one facet of who the character is - he's cool if this is all more than just a set of abilities with neat special effects that'd look good on a movie screen. What does he *think* about his totemic powers? That's what'll help determine his behavior - which is where real cool comes from

Well it seems like his story will be more of a 'What's my place in the world?' story. And how people react to his odd, and constantly shifting apperance will no doubt play into that a great deal. Also in his case it's not really totemic powers so much as who he is. His powers are as much a part of him as his hands, it's what he was constructed to do. It's what he chooses to do with them that will drive his story.

Perhaps. I merely note that those two are not mutually exclusive. :)

True. I kind of hint at that actually in his physical description.

Appearence wise he looks much like a normal warforged, although anyone who knows much about warforged physiology will see that he is unusual. In particular he is studded with many small gems carved into the likeness of fantastic beasts. He has been stained and painted in autumnal colors. His wood is stained grey and brown, and his metal is painted in reds and oranges. His torso plate is earth toned with a pattern of falling leaves enameled on it.

The carved gems may form a magical link to the totemic spirits. I like to leave lots of dangleing plot hooks in my character designs.

I tend to be a crotchetly old jerk when it comes to making warforged more robot-y since they already get enough grief from their detractors, and I would keep the totemist flavor if it were me, but it looks like you've got a pretty cool & fun concept to run with here.

In any case, I'll always approve of any warforged named Autumn. :win:
