Does this weapon ability sound right?

Question

First Post
In one of the faerun books(probaly magic of faerun) there is a weapon ability that adds 1d6 sonic damage for only +1 price mod. Is this the correct version of the ability?

Seems reasonable. Compare to Thundering:

A thundering weapon deals an extra 1d8 points of sonic damage on a successful critical hit. If the weapon’s critical multiplier is ×3, add an extra 2d8 points of sonic damage instead, and if the multiplier is ×4, add an extra 3d8 points of sonic damage. Bows, crossbows, and slings so crafted bestow the sonic energy upon their ammunition. Subjects dealt a critical hit by a thundering weapon must make a DC 14 Fortitude save or be deafened permanently.

And

Shock, Flaming, Frost, Cold - all at +1 modifier.

What zamtap said, except theres always the cadre of people that wont allow acid and sonic for the same price as flaming and frost or shocking. Prolly won't have to state why, but imho its just 1d6 dmg, who cares :).

For what it's worth, the newer and more up to date book Miniatures Handbook contains a property called Sonic, that deals +1d4 points of sonic damage. Personally, I consider this to replace Screaming.

+1d6 is +1d6

Yep. I don't see any problem with them all being 1d6 and +1 for power/price.

The problem is that virtually no creature has Sonic Resistance whereas many higher level creatures have Lightning, Acid, Fire, and/or Cold Resistance.

It's the same reason that sonic spells and psionic powers with sonic tend to do less damage as well.

I thought of that, but fire damage from a flaming sword can't be cancelled by a Silence spell either, sonic damage from a screaming weapon can be.
I can definitely understand some folks thinking sonic should either do less damage or cost more, I just don't agree. In my campaigns sonic weapons have always just been more rare than the other types and that seems to balance them out pretty well.
Also, for flavor I like the idea of a bard having a sonic energy weapon and don't think he should be penalized for staying with a theme.

you feel its penalising him that he can does +1d4 vs ALL(nearly) monsters while the others do 1d6 vs 2/3 of the monsters.. and actually at higher levels.. they do more like 1d6 vs... 1/8 of the monsters
