Does your DM hide their rolls?

I want my players to imagine monsters attacking their character, not little pieces of plastic on a battlemap. So I roll behind the screen. Most of the time I announce the right attacks, but there is no such thing as "cheating" on the DM's side. My job is to entertain and create an engaging game, the only thing I can cheat is cheat the players out of their fun.

Well, I've run combats where I changed monster stats on the fly (half the hp if the damn solo refuses to die etc.) and I've run fights where half of the monsters didn't even have stats.

Yes it's easier to fudge stats than dice rolls these days. Plsu that's much less pentrable to the player....also not cheating, just "revising" the original plan a bit.

I roll my dice out in the open for the most part....unless the Dm screen is up, then by definition the dice are hidden, but the principle is that any player is welcome to check my rolls if they so desire. I tend to favor letting the dice fall where they may....it's part of the fun of the random element in storytelling!....and don't fudge them. I understand the principle, but whenever I can sense as a player that the DM is fudging, I get annoyed...whether he's fudging for or against me it doesn't matter; I then suspect that he's edging the game towards an intended conclusion, rather than letting the beautiful element of chance aid the story in a unique direction (for better or worse). Because of my own dislike for such as a player, I do not do it as a DM, either.

I can not hide mine. My players are very VERY paranoid. So I let the dice fall where they may and the players will have to deal with it. Some time the red dragon can not even hit the wizard. Other days the Orc is butchering the paladin with a critical after a critical.
