Does your DM use dry erase boards? Don't they make you sick?

Personally, I detest dry erase boards with the traditional markers. They give me a headache and toluene gives you brain damage.

Thoughts?

P.s. Do they make dry-erase markers that won't kill you?

Could you provide some peer-reviewed research that backs this up, especially backing up the implication that normal use of dry-erase markers significantly increases the risk of brain damage? I've never encountered this idea before.

From the CDC:
How can toluene affect my health?
Toluene may affect the nervous system. Low to moderate levles can cause tiredness, confusion, weakness, drunken-type actions, memory loss, nausea, loss of appetite, and hearing and color vision loss. These symptoms usually disappear when exposure is stopped.

Inhaling High levels of toluene in a short time can make you feel light-headed, dizzy, or sleepy. It can also cause unconsciousness, and even death.

High levels of toluene may affect your kidneys.
The effects disappear when exposure is stopped, except in cases of high levels. I have a very hard time believing any dry erase marker has high levels of toluene, and especially that you'd suffer the listed symptoms just from proximity to their use.

Incidentally, we use them all the time, and I love them. If there's good evidence that such use is dangerous, I wanna know--especially since as a teacher I'll be using a whiteboard daily!

I use both a dry erase battleboard & a whiteboard for teaching, but I have yet to sicken either my players or students.

I can't find any reference to dry erase markers containing toluene. I've found ketones and xylene, but not toluene. Regardless, if you want a dry erase marker that might bother you less, there are ones out there, such as the Pentel and Expo II Dry erase markers, that just use alcohols as the solvent according to this and this.
