Don't Hurt me but I think I love 3.5

First Post
I have read many many changes happening to one of our favorite games and I couldn't be happier.

D&D 3E is a great game, but I always thought it was a little power hungry, everything was over the top, but with what I am reading 3.5 is raising some of the power valleys and chopping off some of the peaks, but there is still plenty of power to be had.

So far I love almost all of the changes. I was only going to order the PHB, but I have changed my mind and am buying all three.

I've got your back, man. So far I've not heard a single change that doesn't rock the house. I'm going for a new set of rulebooks when the cash allows, which will probably be this fall or winter.

I may not think that EVERY change coming down the pike is A-One Supercool, but almost everything I've heard/seen so far looks good.

Of course, nothing is official until the books are in our hands, right?

That said, I'm still more psyched about Arcana Unearthed from the inimitable Monte Cook...

I'm also more psyched about AU, but I think that's natural. 3.5e (which I will get no matter what because I am a tool) is a refinement. AU is something new.

Apropos of nothing, I love your user icon. Greatest American Hero was one of my favorite shows of all time, and I would happily give my left arm--well, no, but I'd happily give someone else's left arm ;)--if they'd bring it out on DVD already.

Eh. Some good. Some not so good.

As my sig indicates, I am NOT happy about the combat system being made into "son of chainmail".

Not happy about nerfing spell focus (if it's true.) Casters have a hard enough time getting spells off as it is.

DR is flavorful, but difficult for backwards compatability.

Why, oh why, didn't they nix those stupid paladin and monk limitations?

I do like most of the spell changes. As stated in the 1 min/level threads, I don't see the problem. Harm is ALMOST the exact fix I was already using.

Hurray for the nerfing ....

Still its not nerfed enough, I the the "NPC classes" sould be made standart (after being nerfed of course) and the now PC classes removed and monsters sould be powered up and nobody would be able to raise above lv10.

Other than using pics of minis to illustrate combat, going to "square" facings, and doing simple math in the Monster Manual (Move 40 feet (8 squares)) -- how do you figure? The combat system is the same as it always was.

Now if all attacks did one point of damage and you had 1 hp per level, and no ability bonuses to attack but only BAB, I'd say we have "son of chainmail".

Back on topic, I generally approve of the updates. There are a few that I've scratched my head at so far, but it sounds like the total package should work quite well. It helps that it eliminates a bunch of my own house rules. :)

If you had looked at my sig like recommended, you will see that it is the square facings I am specifically thinking of.
