Don't Hurt me but I think I love 3.5

I have been happy with most of the changes. I really like the nerfing of haste and harm, but I am bitter about the monk and paladin multiclass restrictions are still in!

If you had looked at my sig like recommended, you will see that it is the square facings I am specifically thinking of.

Link something in your sig regarding what the hell your avatar is. :D :D If thats really you I'm scared.

To me, square facings make perfect sense if you're going to hold to the 'no facing' ruleset. I hated rectangles, myself, because they conflicted with that suspension of disbelief. Obviously my Dire Tigers are facing one of two directions when they're long narrow beasts on the board.

Chalk me up as a Happy about Squares person -- even if I eventually have to make my own houserules about going through doorways and narrow halls :)

Falling in step with The Toe here.

I'm thrilled with the nerf of Haste and most of the other spells listed, but particularly haste.

I think it was Chris Pramas talking about 3E development who said that "...if something was so good that everyone had to take it, then it was too good..."

That was Haste in a nutshell. All of the folks bitching about it being nerfed might want to take a look at their bitching and ask why they feel they can't live without it at its current power level.

They can refer to this post for their answer :) It is something so good that everyone had to have it

I've been asking folks "would you take the old Haste if it were a 7th level spell?"

So far no one has turned it down.

PS

I'm really looking forward to 3.5e. Looks like playing bards, barbarians, rangers and in fact every class will be worth it. At the moment it's all fighters and wizards in the group. let's hear it for variety!

I'll join in. I think, on balance (no pun intended), this is a very good improvement. Of course there are some things I question (I agree, all squares, even in abstract, is silly). But I'll take those any day if it brings me all the improvements I've seen.

Since someone brought up AU, does anyone else feel the way I do? The mechanics changes Monte has talked about sound great, except when they sound awesome. But the implied setting leaves me more and more cold every time I hear something new about it. Hero Points, Death's Door, the spell system; these sound cool. But I can't get at all excited about furry unfettereds and faen akashics.
