D&D 5E Don't Throw 5e Away Because of Hasbro

Those aren't indications that it's doing gangbusters now. I read a lot of people on social media and I think that's where this notion really started with me. People whose brand is D&D aren't excited in the same way. Some of them stepping away from it.
I don't know if this is representative of how it is doing "now," but the reported sales of the 2024 books have been incredible. Much stronger than the 2014 release and higher than I was expecting for sure. I assumed they just wanted to maintain the sales strength they have had, but they have far exceeded that. Of course, the question is not how it is doing "now," but how will it do "tomorrow."

PS - here is an article from 6 days ago: Dungeons & Dragon's New Monster Manual Appeals To Players, Not Just DMs, not sure if that qualifies as "now" or not.

I think WotC D&D is doing fine. I don’t think it’s selling more than expected but yet still selling well. I don’t have a great picture but if things were bad we’d probably already know, more than we know now.

At the same time I think the rest of the hobby is doing well too. I also get this impression that growth there is accelerating or catching up. Maybe?

On top of all that I don’t see a lot of older 2014 core D&D books showing up on the second hand market.

I didn't see anywhere i said the MM was a better book... I did say At first glance one layout seemed more crowded... still didnt say one book was better than the other. In fact I said my opinion could change with use of the actual books... so no you didn't quote me saying the MM was a better book. Nice try mis-representing though.
OK, you don't know how comparisons work, then. When you constantly nitpick the details of one of them, saying it's too crowded or sections aren't obvious or there's too much (optional) info, that is literally saying it's inferior to the other.

And you still refuse to even talk about the content of the presented material. You're literally judging it by its appearance, which is very rarely a good thing to do.

I've extolled the virtues of the A5e MM before. Lots of detail, monster signs, treasure suggestions, interesting variants and monster types, imaginative lore. If you plan on getting WotC's book too, great! I'd be happy to accept it as a gift, I just don't want to pay $50 for it.
And that's brings up the other issue. I already have the 5.14 MM (and LU's Menagerie, and the monsters from Tales of the Valiant, and the Monster Manual Expanded books). How much new content will the 5.24 book have? And by new content, I don't mean new varieties of existing monsters, I mean monsters that are either new or new to 5e.

Some, but I expect less than $50 worth of new content, for me in any case. I look forward to being proven wrong.

Ok I'm pretty much over this so I may no longer respond after this...
1. Yeah I know how comparisons work do you?

2. I can compare two monsters (Which I have seen in their entirety) from two books (I have not seen in their entirety) without making a commentary on the books as a whole... you realize those are two different comparisons right? In the first I have a complete picture... in the second I don't.

Why would I when I plan to wait until I can judge the book in its entirety in actual play. Tea leaf reading isn't a hobby I have an interest in.

Tales of the Valiant has it's Monster Vault 2 in kickstarter. That will be new monsters since they are done covering 5e monsters in the SRD with MV1. Plus they have 4 other monster books. Their 3rd campaign builder book 'Dungeons & Ruins' just shipped. Labyrinth will be out around June-ish as well. That will have new subclasses, spells, etc.

I can't say how much new content 5.5e will have, but Kobold Press is running circles around WotC with new content and IMO it's all better quality. WotC will do fine, because it's so big and people don't look for other options. However, if you are looking for something new for 5e, pick what you are looking for from Kobold Press is my $.02.

EN Publishing's Monstrous Menagerie 2 for Level Up just came out of Kickstarter, and it is all new monsters, along with rules for Horde monsters (like minions but somewhat tougher and IMO more fun) and heroic monsters (who can level up themselves and are good models for party allies and recurring antagonists). So that's another non-WotC publisher making new monster content.

There is no possible way there will be what you consider $50 worth of new content. Unless you consider 85 new monsters worth $50. Which, based on your previous remarks, I don't think that is the case. So I would not look forward to being proven wrong!
