The Rock is going to be in DOOM? I didn't know that. I know he is doing Spyhunter (is that finished shooting yet?) and I know he did Be Cool.

What's his role in DOOM?

More importantly, why can't hollywood keep from screwing things up with video games... how cool is Hell = Monsters = Marines compared to Virus = Monsters = SWAT? I think the Hell concept is much cooler, and the virus has been done too often that it's kinda getting old.

He is "The Guy". Or at least, that's what he described his role as in the interview on the Daily Show.

He plays "Sarge", which presumably is the sgt of the squad of marines (or whatever). I would have to guess that it's a small role (for some strange reason), since he is not often mentioned in articles about the movie. (Not that there are many of them).


Generally speaking, when they don't release much info about a movie (and they haven't about Doom), it means the studio is afraid to.

Last I heard, Karl Urban of Eomer fame was going to be 'the marine' in the movie.

Well, not to be a pessimist, but this sounds like it'll be a horrible, horrible movie.

Mutagen virus and "Bio Force Gun"? Puh-leeze. This might be a good movie, but it is not the Doom movie. A Doom movie has DEMONS FROM HELL and the BIG FRAGGIN' GUN (at least).

What the spork?! The whole point of Doom is that we opened the gateway to Hell itself, and monsters came through!

Seriously, how can you justify Imps, Demons and the Hell Knights/Barons of Hell with some sort of VIRUS? I want my demons and my Marines with a Big F#####' Gun!

I think that's about where Doom will fit in. And as bad as those others were, they are just awesome in that special way that only bad films can be.

Now I just want them to make a movie based on Marathon and Marathon: Durandal. I want to see some smarmy AI's toying with a marine!
