Doesn't bother me, but then again I'm a pretty lenient DM. If, as my player, you can make something sound cool enough, and it at least SORT OF makes sense, I'll probably let you go for it, if it doesn't throw the game off(No "Come on, I can cut his head off in one swing!"). A fantastic example was when my Wizard and Fighter got together and decided to use a prepared action to have him Thunderwave the Fighter in the back, "To make him charge harder". I was so impressed(not to mention amused), I let him take only half damage for it, and allowed it. I also saw them negate a trap by throwing a throne at it. Not what I expected, but it made sense to me, and was funny enough I had to allow it.
