Double Weapons

Suppose I'm wielding a double weapon as if fighting with two weapons for my full attack action for the round. Before my next turn, I get an AoO. Can I use the double weapon as a two-handed weapon for my AoO?

Edit: I meant to post this in the D&D Rules forum

I don't see why not. If you DM is getting technical, just use a free action to change your grip after your full attack sequence is over.

Technically, the penalties for two-weapon fighting last until your next action, so I'd have to guess tha tyou can't "switch out" sooner than that.

Actually, there's nothing in the rules that says the penalties last till your next action.
