”Starkweather: Immortal” now available on WOWIO
Features original short story by Piers Anthony
Starkweather Studios is proud to announce that the fully painted “Starkweather: Immortal” series is now available for free download at e-bookstore WOWIO. Go to .WOWIO to download. “Starkweather: Immortal” features the origin of the immortal Roman soldier Cartaphilus as told by legendary New York Times bestselling author Piers Anthony. The series is written by David A. Rodriguez and illustrated by Patrick McEvoy. About the opportunity to work with the iconic author, Rodriguez said, "I've been reading Piers Anthony's books since I was fifteen years old, and here I am, years later, and he thought enough of my work to agree to write an original story based on MY characters. It's an incredible feeling to get to have my name in the credits beside his, and I'll be forever grateful that he took the time out of his very busy schedule to work on this. I can't ever say enough good things about him."
“Starkweather: Immortal” is published by Archaia Studios Press. All ASP titles are available worldwide at finer comic book shops, bookstores, Amazon.com and the ASP Store at Indie Press Revolution, at Indy Planet . At WOWIO, it joins Starkweather Studios’ highly successful “Shadowgirls” webcomic collection, which makes regular appearances in WOWIO’s Top 10. “Shadowgirls” tells the story of a mother and daughter with strange powers who battle dark creatures in the small town of Innsmouth, Massachusetts. The entire series is Right Here! . “Shadowgirls” books are also available in print from IndyPlanet.
You can also find the original five-issue “Starkweather” series on WOWIO. Read the story that has been called “exciting, rich and [with] enough details to keep your blood pumping,” by Eric Anderson, editor at The Pullbox, and “a compelling action story...full of secret histories, explosive magic, and heartfelt quests for redemption” by The Comics Bulletin. About “Shadowgirls”
At the tender age of fifteen, Charon McKay disappeared from the small coastal town of Innsmouth, Massachusetts. When she turns up nine month later, she is incoherent and raving and—slightly more surprising—pregnant. No one knows who the father is, and even Charon is unable to remember what happened to her. The only thing people know for sure is that she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Rebecca Sue McKay—and that both Becka and her mother are decidedly strange. In fact, most people stay away from them entirely. But Charon and Becka have more immediate worries. Strange creatures have appeared in Innsmouth and awakened dark and terrifying powers within the girls. Only the Shadowgirls can stand against this ancient threat…if the power doesn’t consume them first.
“Shadowgirls” was created by David A. Rodriguez and Dave Reynolds. The freshman webcomic is often ranked in the Top 10 on both Top Web Comics and Buzzcomix. Anderson called it "crisp and surprising...a great mesh of suspense/thriller/action, with just the right amount of comedic dialogue." Comic Related’s Chuck Moore said “Shadowgirls” is "one sharp looking new tale that's sure to build quite a following." Shadowgirls boasts more than 10,000 unique visitors a day and is the fastest-growing horror webcomic on the Internet.
About Archaia Studios Press
Mark Smylie founded Archaia Studios Press in 2002 as a new home for his epic fantasy comic book, “Artesia” (first published by Sirius Entertainment). “Artesia,” winner of ForeWord Magazine’s Best Graphic Novel of 2003, and its sequels, “Artesia Afield” and “Artesia Afire,” gave ASP its foundation. “Artesia: Adventures in The Known World,” a role-playing game written by Smylie, expanded ASP into the world of gaming when the game won the Origins Award for Role-Playing Game of 2005. Now Smylie and publishing partner Aki Liao have expanded ASP to include a line of idiosyncratic and creator-driven comic books and graphic novels in the fantasy, science fiction and horror genres, as well as translations of several of Europe’s best titles.
