Downtime

Michael Morris

First Post
Last Saturday (the 18th) my computer's backlight went out and I had to send it back to the manufacturer for repair. Sorry for any inconvenience my absence may have caused. They have finished repairs and are shipping the computer back to Atlanta today, but it will probably be Friday before I can get back to Atlanta to pick it up.

It cost me $5 just to send this message over an internet kiosk. I won't be sending any more until my system is back.

And BTW, what the hell are petz???

Well, you probably won't see this reply, then ($5?!?!? Do they supply food, drink and a massage while you send it?), so I'll say "Welcome Back" in advance for Friday.

When you get the chance, you should do some research and locate all the libraries along your driving routes. Most public libraries these days have free internet access. You could pop in and check the boards when you are in need of a break, if you can find a place to park your truck.

"Did you just say a $5 Internet connection?"

"Sure did."

"For a terminal? A screen and keyboard?"

"Uh-huh."

"It cost $5?"

"Yep."

"You didn't get kazaa or anything?"

"Nope."

"Just checking."

...

"Mmm"

"Can I have a go? I wanna know what a $5 Internet connection feels like."

"Be my guest."

"Goddamn! That's a pretty :):):):)in' good connection."

"Told ya."

"I don't know if it's worth $5, but it's pretty :):):):)in' good."

most places here in nyc have internet bars in fast food places where you pay betwen 1/2$ and get a ticket for 1hr online at their terminals.

I cant imagine how its MORE expensive elsewhere.

Still without laptop. Spent another $5 to avert critical internet withdrawal.

:sigh:

Well, I *should* have my system back tomorrow. Hopefully

Praying...

I miss you guys.
