Downtown Indianapolis Food [New one every day!]

First Post
For all you Gencon newbies, every day or so I'm going to list one of my favorite places to eat in downtown Indianapolis. I work downtown and walk to a lot of these places in the summer.

Yats
639 Massachusettes Ave.
Indianapolis, IN 686-6380

Its too far to walk, but worth it if you have a car or can take a cab. Excellent Cajun. Oh man this stuff is good.

I'll chime in with mine as well, since I live in Indy.

P.F. Chang's China Bistro
Circle Center Mall

Just a few minutes walk from GenCon, you don't even have to go outside. You MUST try the banana spring rolls. It's the cheapest, best dessert in town ($4.95).

P.F. Changs is a good one, JediSoth. Now I'm getting hungry.

Here's one you *can* walk to from Circle Center Mall:

India Garden Restaurant
Downtown
143 N. Illinois Street
Indianapolis, IN
634-6060

If you are there on Thursday or Friday, get the lunch buffet. But if you are like me, don't plan anything that afternoon because when food coma sets in, you are gonna want a nap.

The Ram rocked.

It's a Micro Brewery that also makes its own soda. The Resterant management were gamers so they allowed for gaming in thier back room. They made there menu look like a Volo's guide parody and they had plenty of gaming stuff all through the place. Loard of the Rings played all day on the big screen. Staff was great.

Oh and the food was awesome! :D

Walking distance from the Con.

Four stars!!!!

I'll second that. The only problem I had with the Ram was the bartender that was working on Friday night when a large group of us went there after the ENnies. He made it very difficult to order drinks, and got angry when we asked him for our change (I wasn't going to tip him the change for a $20 on a single beer). Other than that, the food was great, and the wait staff was very helpful and friendly, and overall a great place to eat.

The Indian Garden was pretty good, a very nice lunch buffet. There's also a pretty good sushi place just down the street from the Ram.

Bucca de Beppo! It's this great Italian place that serves everything family style (if you order spagetti, you get a dish for four people), and has the craziest decor. And I adore their food. Bring a group of no less than four, and more if you can manage it.

As another Indy resident, I'll second that! Yats has great food at a low price (entree $5 - $6, drinks $1). It's no-frills cooking, and the menu changes daily.

Bucca di Beppo is also excellent, but heed Isida's warning about portion size! If you go with less than 4 people, you're guaranteed to have leftovers. Not bad if you have a fridge/kitchenette in your room... but it may not work out well for everyone.

And now for my suggestion: Rock Bottom Brewery on Washington Street. It's a brewpub similar to the Ram, and kind of an old stand-by for me.

Hooters.

nothing like heavy.... stuff in tight t-shirts and skimpy shorts.

and that was just me and the crew. :D

Ya know, I really didn't need that mental image so soon after lunch.......
