Dr Who - Army of Ghosts [spoilers likely]

I rather hope they don't go and kill off all the Daleks again - it makes it harder to keep bringing them back if you're going to wipe them out every time they appear.

Looking forward to next week!

That is the great tenaicty of the daleks....you absolutley destroy them but somehow they return.

Plus they will finally settle many a boyhood playground game played 20+ years ago...who is better the daleks or the cyberman....always a cyberman fan but get an inkling they might not win....

As we in the USA wait and wait for the current season. Sci Fi a couple of weeks ago finished season one. So we wait and wait and ..............

"We"? Got a mouse in your pocket? :) Geography's not really that great an obstacle these days.

This episode had quite a few surprises for me. I didn't see Mickey returning, though it's pretty plausible given that the Cybermen showed up. And his time in the parallell world seems to have actually made him competent, as opposed to a tin dog. And I really didn't see the Daleks showing up again.

Too bad they killed off the black chick that was supposed to be in the running for companionhood. She was definitely easy on the eyes.

I too was actually pleased by Micky's appearance in this episode. And I agree the young lady was quite attractive. Awkward to come out and say it, but I notice there's a bit of a trend of interracial coupling on this show. Micky and Rose, then the couple in the "Attack of the Graske" featurette, then we get this little bit on the side, plus some shots depicted in the background with extras from time to time. At some point it's got to be a conscious casting decision. Then again, maybe it's more commonplace in London than here in Georgia.

I somehow don't think Rose will actually die- or at least, won't remain dead by the end of next episode. Seems a little heavy handed for them to start out that way and stick with it. What are some other ways a person can die? Maybe the Doctor abandons her and breaks her heart? That would be a figurative way of "dying."

Well, there's the void ship. She could wind up nowhere, literally. Or she could be recalling the events from a point where her death is seemingly imminent, but right after we catch up to her point in the story, the doctor pops in and saves her.

Possibly, the Daleks are ones from the parallell universe--one where they never got wiped out.

Or they could simply be refugees from this universe's war between the Time Lords and the Daleks. Hop into the timeless pocket between dimensions to hold out until things get better, but instead you get stuck. As you sit there biding your misfortune for all eternity you witness a crossing between dimensions, one of them being your original home dimension. You can't believe what you saw but then moments later you witness something cross back from the alternate into your home dimension. You are struck with the idea that these two dimensions apparently have a weakness between them right there on this planet called Earth that you may be able to exploit and then hijack the opening to return to your home dimension... with just a little technological mumbo-jumbo.

Just a musing on a possibility...

I don't think that would work. The Doctor told us that the Time Lords used to go to all the parallel worlds all the time, but they've been wiped out completely. I'm pretty sure the same would be true of the Daleks. I think the time war refugees idea is probably the right one; it all fits.

I so can't wait for the next episode.

This was a really good episode and I just hope it sets up a really good season finale. I'm looking forward to Torchwood mainly for the Captain Jack stuff as it'll be set on Earth and a bit more domestic than Dr Who.

Just waiting for a Cyberman to say "Resistance is Useless" as it was their catchphrase first.

I was all ready to get on here right after I finished watching the episode and gush about how great it was, but we had an internet router problem or something and I haven't been able to get on the web for days. :(

My first thought when this episode was over was "OMFG!" :D

I think I had to pick my jaw up off the floor after we found out what was inside the voidship. I can't wait for Saturday. There's only going to be one thing wrong with the episode - it's going to be the season finale!!

I'm sure that's the case. As a Londoner I have to say that it all seems pretty normal; certainly normal enough that I never noticed it as anything out of the ordinary.
