[dracolich] Cr ?

Hi folks,

I was just talking to one of my players about throwing a Dracolich into the mix of encounters for an upcoming campaign (he is a Co-DM, so it's not something that is going to spoil the game for him).

Anyway, I told him that if I remembered correctly, the Dracolich was around CR23 (in the Draconomicon), and he mentioned that he thought that was underpowered.

I don't happen to have my book with, so would any of you mind telling me what the CR for a Dracolich is ?

The dracolich is a template, like the normal lich. The CR is entirely dependent on the CR of the starting dragon.

The thing is, certain aspects of being a dragon and a lich overlap (like spells, etc.)

Think of it this way: a lich of this CR would posses more magical might. A dragon of this CR would posses higher physical combat abilities. The combat presents a series of mutual trade offs.

Yes, it is an Ancient Blue Dracolich (CR 23). Both the 3.0 Dracolich template in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting and the 3.5 version in Draconomicon have a CR adjustment of +3.
