Dragon #316

Kineticist never was a specialization of psion, though. That one's a PrC from the Mind's Eye, derived from the Pyrokineticist PrC in the original PsiHB.
Yeah, I confused it with the Savant (discipline Psychokinesis)...

Hey just to ask,

are there any non-US subscribers here to Dragon/Dungeon?

cos i'm a non-US subscriber and the past 3/4 issues have not been sent... my subscription on the last received issue indicates i still have another 6 issues due.

i've emailed paizo about 4 times, and i've gotten no reply from them.

wondering if anyone could help.

Could this imply that egoists, nomads and kineticists are different classes and not just specialization of the psion?

It might, but it might also be stating the most common specializations of the Psion. I'm still betting on the 2 new psionic core classes to be a psionic martial artist and a psionic rogue. But it's possible that they took egotists and nomads and made them into those classes. Or it just might mean that you get more distinct abilties in your choices of what discipline to specialize in, beyond different class skills...

Actually its the nature boy exotic stuff that has me interested. The Central America themed Fey, Dragons, etc., the urban druid, and the new races.

My wild elf barbarian/ranger has little use for magic or intrigue... :)
Right well I figure the intrigue part was why you didn't like this issue Kai. Something about cunning and intellect perhaps? ;)

Psionic Preview #2 (starting on page 78) is entitled "Psionic Feats." It discusses the need to fix the fact that psionic feats in the past used to require the expenditure of psionic points (which were also being used to power psionic powers, and thus psychic warriors in particular would run out of psionic points quickly and then not be able use their powers or feats). The fix: psionic focus, a special use of the Concentration skill. Once you've established psionic focus, you can "run" a psionic power (but only one at a time, apparently). To use a Star Trek analogy, it seems like "charging your phaser banks" before you can fire weapons. You also get to spend less psionic points on some of the metapsionic powers once you've established psionic focus. (The example given is spending 6 points instead of 8.)

A few clarifications here. The problem with the psionic feats was that they required a reserve to use to balance out that they were more powerful than your average feat. Because of this, Psychic Warriors couldn't use their psionic abilities much because they needed to maintain the reserve.

Charging Psionic Focus is very difficult (a DC 20 check). Once you have charged it, you maintain it until you fall unconcious or discharge it. Some feats just require you to be charged to use the feat, some require you to discharge it while using the feat.

It seems that the intent is to allow you to go into combat Focused (you can take 20 in 2 minutes), but once you discharge it, you will have a hard time regaining the focus.

Finally, four Eberron feats are given: Action Boost, Dragon Rage, Flensing Strike, and Haunting Melody.

Anyone care to give a one or two liner about each of these feats, describing what they basically do?

Cheers
