Dragon #327, It'a all Erik's fault

People have 327 already? That's nice, I never got my 326. *sigh*

As I already posted in the thread on 'why you don't buy Dragon', I'm about ready to cancel my subscription over this; issues are late so often it's just a sick joke. I emailed Paizo, & just get a reply to check with my post office. *blink* Gee, funny how they get bills, letters, & every OTHER magazine to me on time, hmm?

Ugh. Not a happy camper here. :(

Erik,

I haven't resubscribed to the magazines due to the horror stories I've heard about subscriptions always being late. What is Paizo doing to improve subscriptions?

I really want to re-subscribe to Dungeon, as I've bought every issue since the format change. And thanks for putting more Greyhawk in my Dungeon. Now, all I need is a series of Creature Catalog articles updating some of the core Greyhawk monsters.

Cheers!

p.s. The first Greyhawk map (of the set of 4) rocks! Can't wait for the rest of it. After that, I'd recommend Dungeon doing a series of city maps based on Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms, and Eberron.

So what's in the next issue? ;)

I haven't received my issue yet, which is hardly surprising, given that I'm neither a subscriber nor a buyer , but I can answer you anyway thanks to my mad oracular psychic powers.

Three things wrong with this article. 1) It pulls on a computer game for source material. 2) That game is the ever-annoying EverQuest. 3) It is only really applicable to drow, which have had their day.

If you're going to put something computer related into the magazine, do reviews, not conversions. But even those wouldn't be particularly useful as a regular feature.

I disagree with this. D&D seems to have a certain "formulaic" quality to its spells and items. Silicon Sorcery is one of my favorite article series precisely because the different mindset and mechanics of some computer games help get the game "out of the rut" as it were, presenting fresh, less formulaic, ideas.

Duh uh. Missed that. Thanks Gez. ;P

Silverfish: A Forgotten Realms short story.

Ugh, fiction. Ugh, Realms. While I can understand support for the Realms, even if I would never use it, I consider fiction

Is this based on The Rite? The Year of Rogue Dragons trilogy started out great IMO with The Rage and I'm looking forward to the next book.

Modern Magic: Magical D&D versions of modern everyday items

Not a bad idea for a one-off article. I'd hate to see it be a regular feature.

I agree.

I couldnt' disagree more. Dragon should be crunchy. I have plenty of other sources for D&D game news and commentary, thank you.

Miniatures: Warband Building

Meh. Miniatures hold no interest to me -- I haven't bought one since the 1980s. Still, I wouldn't begrudge the space if the fiction and CRPG conversions weren't there. At least I can see the draw of miniatures and could imagine doing some wargaming if my group was a bit different.

I love miniatures. However, warband building tips are not very useful to me. I would prefer to see more campaign scenarios, random dungeon decks or spoilers for upcoming sets.

And is there ANYTHING in this issue or the next one that mentions Eberron? I would like to see more Eberron support please. Articles are great, but sidebars will do. Erik?

No Dungeon 118 here yet either

I finally decided to get a subscription to Dungeon after buying 9 in a row or so at the bookstore. I made the order on November 7th, and have yet to receive a magazine. On the Dungeon message boards, they say that U.S. customers should allow up to two weeks for delivery and that the magazines are sent out from the midwest. They also claim that 118 was sent out on the 23rd of November. Guess what? I live in the midwest, and still no sign of a magazine, yet they had no problems billing my account promptly. I'm very frustrated at this point, half the reason I ordered was to receive my issues a little bit early. Joke is on me, I guess. Off to post on the paizo boards and send them an e-mail.

hahaha

I'm still waiting for 326 to hit my mailbox. Apparently Uk/Euro subscribers have to wait between 4-8 weeks (5 weeks and counting for 326 for me). All i know is i would never have subscribed if i knew it was going to take this long. They should make Uk/Euro subscribers aware of the lengthy delay (ok the delivery delay is in a FAQ where its mentioned but for such a lenghty delay it should be highlighted in the subscription process IMO).

Guess i'll contact paizo support and see if there is anyway possible to cancel the sub, i'm not prepared to wait that long.

New subscription. More holiday goodness. My sister will (hopefully) be getting me Races of Stone for Christmas! I got my Dragon on the 8th. I'm stopping in Game Daze today or Monday to pick up Dungeon. I gotta get the Greyhawk map!
