Dragon #335

#334 only hit the shelves of the store I prefer to visit Tuesday last week.

It may have been in one of the others, who use a different distributor, of course.

Got mine yesterday as well. A great improvement over the three week wait for the last Dungeon.

I haven't had a chance to crack the plastic yet, though.

Funny, I also have mine and haven't cracked the plastic yet. Usually I can't open it fast enough, but between happy hour and then having to work at home until 10, it just didn't occur to me.

I only skimmed it at the library but until we get some full info...

336 (October) preview was some Undead articles (one by Ari). Probably pimping Heroes of Horror in theme and of course it is the October/Halloween issue.

An article on the Demonomicon of Iggwilv - about the book, not any specific demon lord.

The rest escapes me. Looks like a solid issue on the horror theme.

This month's Sage Advice was on Magic items - cost & creation. Once again Andy says that Caster level is not a prerequisite in opposition to Skip's interpretation.

The other articles were Realms stuff which I didn't look at.

Which one is 335, the one with the Kraken or the one with the stuff on Waterdeep?
334 is the Kraken one. I liked the Kraken stuff, but found the rest of it a bit of a disappointment (e.g. "6 new spells for seafarers" = 6 water based damage dealing spells for when you get bored with fireballs) but I guess that was last month's thread.

I don't have 335 yet, but since I am no longer a subscriber (due past to delivery problems) I am not complaining.

I am looking forward to ecology of the lizardfolk. Couldn't care less at the moment about the Moonstar organisation or bard spells of Waterdeep, but you never know.

Prospect of more Wormfood and an interview with Ed Greenwood is also leaving me underwhelmed.

Here's the scoop on #336. I just got #335 in the mail at lunch time.

Haunted Houses by James Jacobs

'From unquiet nature spirits to perversions form realms beyond, more than chain rattling specters haunt the dark corners of the world. these seve3n new templates each detail a different haunting and are ready to apply to any structure or location.'

Birth of the Dead by Ari Marmell

'The create undead spell can't be blamed for every ghoul and ghost. Whether hunting them or creating them, learn the genesis of the of the most terrifying undead threats in D&D.'

Bandits in the Path of Fame by James Lowder

'Can a headstrong princess face her inner evils and overcome the ancient tests that ward her ancestral throne?'

Demonomican of Iggwilv by Owen K.C. Stephens

'Learn the secrets of the most infamous tome in D&D history.'

Plus!

'The Ecology of the Spawn of Kyuss, Wormfood, Class Acts, Bazaar of the Bizarre, First Watch, Scalemail, Sage Advice and Comics.'

OOOooh! An article about where D&D undead come from! Yes! And written by our own Ari Marmell! I wonder if it was cut from Heroes of Horror, or just in the spirit of it.

And a spawn of Kyuss can have an ecology "kill things, make more, repeat". It's just another Age of Worms tie-in, and I wouldn't be surprised to see more Ecology of... that deal with other Kyuss monsters, like ulgurstastas or avikiolas.

Demiurge out.
