Dragon #344

While I love Johnathan's work in general (Challenge of Champions is always a joy), the "hokey-jokey" nature of those Ecologies was Just Too Much, in my opinion, and they won't be returning in the short term.

Sorry, guys.
No apologizing to me - I actually use the new Ecologies articles, now.

A good decision.

I judt got my copy today. I like the new dragons (and the spells in the Wizards Three article). Unfortunately, the Elysian Dragons by Age table leaves off the great wyrm category! Could somebody please post the missing info, because I would really like to use this guy!

D'oh

We will make sure to put this information in the Web Enhancement for the issue which should go up next week. Check paizo.com/dragon.

Sorry for the mix up.

Is it just me, or does that seem to fly in the face of how gods in Eberron are presented, since they never take on a physical form or manifest in the world.
This is indeed a legend. There are those who BELIEVE that the skeletal dragon is the Keeper. However, if you check the Lords of Dust article, some people think that this skeletal dragon was actually created by Katashka the Gatekeeper during the Age of Demon. The dracolich itself is certainly happy to claim the title, and may in fact engage in divine channeling. However this doesn't represent any sort of change to the presence (or lack thereof) of manifest deities in Eberron.

The Voyage of The Princess Ark, by Bruce A. Heard - This "lost" installment continues the Princess Ark's journey - this is part thirty-six. Four sidebars dot the article: one describing the people on The Princess Ark (Lord Haldemar of Haaken, Lupins, Myojo, Talasar, and Xerdon), one about The Princess Ark herself, one about Alphatia and their artifact, and the last one is the elixer of aranea ichor.

Man, I used to love those articles. I may have to pick this up just for that.

Does it include any crunchy stuff at all?

Oh, sure! No issue can be perfect. I am not too angsty about it, really. I just thought I would post some feedback. Since I am mostly thrilled with Dragon (and for the most part Dungeon as well) I normally have nothing but good things to say (well, except for about "The Portent". Blech). This time, I was not thrilled. ;)

If I had liked the Greenwood and/or Gygax articles/fiction more, maybe that would have helped. But, even if they were good- and they were lousy!- there was way too much fiction in one issue. That was exacerbated by lack of crunch in the other feature articles as well. Since Dragon is particularly good about finding the fluff/crunch balance most months, I found it surprising and notable that this one was so skewed.

Agreed, this issue was a major let down. Three bad fiction pieces, and a "buyer's guide" that was absurdly classified as a feature? I wouldnt normally put "twice the ads as normal!" on the cover of future issues. Hopefully next issue gets backt o the normally high standards for Dragon.

i'd like to have a look at #344. i'm honestly more excited for next month, however, for the next Demonomicon installment. :)
