And they are giving folks more 3.5 gaming to have, in the form of free adventures.

Adv entures are only useful to approximately 1/5th of the player/consumer base, and only that if *every* group out there uses pre-published adventures (which we know they don't).

I just don't think now is the time someone really, really, needs a shiny new 3.5 PrC or some other piece of Dragon crunch.

I'd like to know why you really think that, above and beyond "drinking the koolaid" because I just don't see it. How can I not use new monsters, magic items, PrCs and feats if my game is going to go on for another half a year?

But you keep ignoring my main point, which is that if they want eDragon to be the go to place for cool new shiny stuff for D&D, doing so now for 3.5 gets people in the mindset that that is what eDragon is for, so when 4E launches, they'll go straight to Dragon fopr that same stuff (and be willing to pony up for it, to boot).

I think the point is, some people disagree with you as well. And were explaining why.

I think you and Vigilance could do a better job of "explaining", since you have responded with a single post about the definition of "few" and Vigilance has had a few responses of terse statements of "fact" with which some disagree. I'm not busting on you or Vig, I am just suggesting that "explaining" is not the same thing as "dismissing".

I don't have a particular opinion in this case, so I'm not trying to explain anything. My posts have been in response to dismissive comments which I thought were unfair.

Except for right now, it's FREE.

So you're getting FREE 3.5 adventures in e-Dungeon, and FREE fluff articles, along with 4e previews in e-Dragon, and you're complaining.

Nice.

I don't buy into this logic. Just because something is free doesn't mean it can't be criticized or judged in quality. If someone is giving away free samples of mini-tacos and they tatste like crap, I have every right to let the perrson giving them away as well as other people know they tatse like crap. Especially if they expect the free mini-tacos to get me to purchase a whole box of them.

So no, it's not a bad idea.

Uhm...let's see how about some crunch for some of the books WotC just left out there kind of in limbo. It might even convince some people to buy a little more during the 3e to 4e drought. Just off the top of my head...

Warlock invocations
Incarnum & Tome of Magic expansions
New maneuvers for Bo9S
New monsters, magic items, etc.
Tie-ins with the Dungeon adventures like Paizo use to do.

You know, eventually, folks will learn that sarcasm is generally not constructive. Eventually, folks will learn that it is a good way to get people's hackles up, and it'll lead to fights.

Until that time, I guess we'll have to keep reminding you folks - snark and sarcasm does not teach the other guy anything. Nor does it really make you look smarter, or more correct to the rest of the audience. It makes you look argumentative and snotty.

So, folks, please don't use it.

If people are waiting for more responses from me, I guess they can keep waiting.

I've been called an apologist by Joe *again*, and people have said I'm "drinking the kool aid".

So for those who would like more from me on why I feel the way I do, sorry, not in the mood to get called names today.

Just tyo be clear, that is not what I said. I was asking you, with sincere interest, why you thought what you thought, beyond simply deciding it was the right thing because WotC was doing it. I put "drinking the kool aid" in quotes because I didn't intend it to be an attack, just a quick way of explaining. Obviously, I didn't think that statement through as well as I should have and I apologize if it seemed like an attack.

I am interested in why you think that "crunch" isn't worthwhile for six months of play left, though.

I never said more crunch wouldn't be worthwhile.

All I said is, that I think Wizards has clearly demonstrated that THEY think it's a bad idea right now, as witnessed by the Complete History of the Realms, the Rules Compendium and a lot of the stuff they've been doing in e-Dragon.

Wizards clearly wants their material to last longer than 6 months, whether you plan on upgrading to the new edition or not.

I just don't think that's an outrageously indefensible stance to take.
